I have to brag about my son. First, if you don’t know already, I am the most untalented and uncoordinated person when it comes to sports. So I just do not have the capacity to imagine actually looking forward to an event such as Field Day (I spent the entire day avoiding as many events as humanly possible) much less actually achieving an award.
But fortunately my son must have his dad’s sports genes because he came home from Field Day at school talking about winning the "hip hugger" race with his best friend as well as a couple of other notable finishes in a relay and a tug-of-war. I was beyond impressed, never having considered that he would actually place in these events, although he seemed pretty unphased by it all.
When Paul got home, it was the talk of the dinner table, and of course we had to re-live every Field Day event and placement he achieved in his school years. *yawn*
The next day was the last day of school, and D got off the bus with 4 ribbons pinned to his shirt! He had forgot to mention coming in second place in the T-ball competition (who could hit the ball the farthest) in addition to his other achievements. He had two first-place blue ribbons, one second-second place, and one was third. Way to go, D!

Enjoyed getting updated – that will save us a few seconds when we meet next week! – Suz
