The last of the auditions — I thought I’d never see the day. I’m only hitting the highlights this week, so this will be short and sweet.
How cute is Asia’h Epperson, and how on EARTH did she make it through that performance?

If you missed it, her dad died suddenly in an auto accident TWO DAYS before her audition. As if that’s not bad enough, she sang How Do I Live Without You and did it with class. She only broke down at the end. If you didn’t have a tear in your eye after that, you have ice in your veins.
The next audition was by a young lady who also wears the title of Miss South Florida Fair, and I’ll just pause a minute so you can let that sink in. She wants to prove that pageant girls can make it on American Idol, and so far she’s proving her point. After an ear-piercing squeal and hugs all around, the judges sent her off to pack for her trip to Hollywood.
Amanda Overmyer is a rocker chick who the judges called "the female Daughtry".

I’m not sure she’s as versatile as Chris Daughtry, but she’ll be fun to watch. Of course, yall know how I love me some rock music so I’m always rooting for the rockers to do well.
Finally, Josiah is a 17-year-old who dropped out of school and left home and lives in his car, waiting to get his big break. He actually has quite an interesting sound, and the judges were intrigued enough to send him to Hollywood. I wanted him to get that yellow ticket, but the momma in me wanted to tell him to be a good boy and go home. I can’t help but pity his poor mother, at home without her boy, wondering where he is and how he’s doing. I’ll be hugging my little boy extra tight when I tuck him in bed tonight.
That wraps up the Atlanta auditions.
On Wednesday we got treated to The Best of the Rest. Ashley’s audition had me howling. She was so bad, but so good natured about it. And Simon with her dog — priceless!
Love JoAnne. I want to be her BFF.
Then there was Alesha, the one Paula and Randy said sounded like Dolly. Paula kept saying she had a nice tone. WHAT was she smoking? The judges were cracking up when she left the room and Simon admitted that Paula and Randy were right about the Dolly thing. It was a funny clip, but I don’t get why they are torturing the poor girl. She doesn’t have a chance, and we all know it.
Chikezie Eze was back after auditioning last year. I thought he was great. I’m not sure why the judges had to think about it before giving him his golden ticket. And remember, they just put Alesha through! After much deliberating on the judges’ parts, he got his ticket to Hollywood.
Finally we were reintroduced to Danny. He got to Hollywood last year before he was eliminated. They put him through again this year, and I have no idea why. I thought he was awful. This was a strange night in Idol Land, that’s for sure.
I know one thing. I can’t WAIT for the Hollywood shows next week!! WOOT!

I was bawling my eyes out when Asia’h was singing! Then R came home and I didn’t want him to see me bawling over a television show! ha! Men just don’t understand these things.
I am ready for the real fun of Hollywood week to begin!
My favorite audition of all was the girl who lived with her mom and was studying to be a vet. She kept saying “Take it, Simon! Take it. Take it. Take it.” My husband and I have been saying that ever since.
Of course, now I have just decided to study actressing…
Since I have chosen to forego TV for the lenten season, I am counting on you for your recaps..
then i can fastforwad on sundays all the junk I don’t need to see!
I thoroughly enjoy reading your American Idol recaps, because I have night classes and am unable to watch it for myself. When you’ve mentioned an interesting contestant, I then go to YouTube and try to find a video of them.
So, your AI posts have been very helpful for me! Thank you!
every episode i keep thinking it’s time for Hollywood week or whatever, but it’s always MORE AUDITIONS. eesh. so glad next week is finally time!
i really am calling bogus on that Asia’h girl. i mean, i feel REALLY awful if her story is true (not saying SHE lied, but saying it’s a reality tv untruth sorta thing), but i can’t believe she was able to sing THAT song, and tell THAT story, and not break down completely. who knows – maybe she’s just a stronger person than i am, but i would be devastated by something like that :/
i heart Josiah. i think he’s my favorite, pre-Hollywood.
and i have a hard time believing that Amanda girl is 22 – she must have had a hard life, or maybe too much make-up?
My vote is already for that cute little boy who is living in his car. Was that Josiah? What a good kid…who needs all of our encouragement. I can’t wait to see how he can really sing and perform!!
I only saw the last bit of the show, and quite frankly, if I were Dolly, I’d be calling them up and yellin at them not to insult my singing!! I thought she sounded NOTHING like Dolly, who is one of the best voices on EARTH, imo.
And I am so glad this part is over. I normally love Hollywood week
The twins dating the same girl creeped me out… that was just too freaky.
I can’t wait for the Hollywood week. They get to play their instruments!!!
Last year was my first season of watching “AI.” I’ve watched all this year, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
(And how wonderful was Jordin Sparks at the Super Bowl on Sunday?)
