The BlogHer gals aren’t the only ones getting some great swag this summer! Look what arrived today in the mail this week, compliments of Maria Bailey and her team at BSM Media.
It’s for the Philly Mom Blogger Meetup happening next month! And that’s not all. Graco has generously volunteered to pick up the tab.
I’m SO looking forward to meeting a bunch of local bloggers, talking shop, and having a few drinks and some great food. If you live in the Philly area, have a mom blog, and want to join us on June 13th for our Philly Mom Blogger MIRL, email me and I’ll fill you in on all the details.
Several of you have asked for the recipe for the chicken Caesar salad that I mentioned yesterday. It’s quite simple.

Buy a bag of Dole Complete Caesar Salad at the grocery store. Follow package direction. Marinate boneless, skinless chicken breasts in Italian salad dressing. Grill to perfection. Cool slightly. Slice thin. Serve on salad with a side of crusty French bread. The end.

For some reason, I only came up with two links to share this week. It’s been SUCH a glorious week, with the summer weather and the holiday weekend that I haven’t been online as much. Plus my design business is hopping again.
Speaking of my design business, yes, I design blogs! I am always surprised when people tell me they didn’t realize I do blog design. I feel like I talk about it all the time. But if you didn’t know, then click on over to DCR Design and see my latest work. I also do buttons and mommy cards and I’m even working on shhhh… a book cover. I KNOW! I almost peed myself when I was asked. Of course, I won’t believe it till I see it in print. I’m still pretty sure someone is going to out me as the impostor that I am and my business will come to a screeching halt. Do you ever feel that way about what you do? Or is it just my deep-seated insecurities rising to the surface?
While I’m promoting my other gigs, I should tell you to check out Chic Critique. Yesterday Megan shared her morning routine, complete with pictures. I plan to do the same one day next week. Yesterday I talked eyebrows. On Wednesday, June told us about all of the cosmetic procedures she’s endured for the sake of beauty. And on Tuesday, my long-time blogging buddy, Kellie of La Vida Dulce, guest blogged on Aveda Hand Relief.
AND. Speaking of guest bloggers on Chic Critique, we are in need of MORE of you!! We now have two slots to fill every week. If you have guest posted before, we’d love to have you back, and if you’ve never given it a whirl, why don’t you consider it? You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to have a product that you love or hate and tell us about it. Easy-peasy!

And now for my Saturday links and shout outs. You won’t wanna miss…

THIS right here is why I live in Philadelphia, folks.
That ain’t no Steak-umm.
Last night for dinner, I served chicken Caesar salad. It’s one of my favorite summertime dinners, and this was the first of the season. In years past, one bag of salad is plenty. But last night we cleaned the bowl, and the kids were begging for more. And I’m not talking about just more croĆ»tons. They were begging for more lettuce. Note to self: 2 bags of salad needed from now on.
Then today at lunch I made myself a spinach salad. My 2-year-old kept begging for scraps off my plate, so finally I made her one of her very own. She scarfed it down and asked for more. Here’s proof if you don’t believe me.
Who has ever heard of kids who love salad!?
I feel like I’m coming out of hibernation. Like I’ve been waiting since last September, just biding my time until the return of summer. There’s nothing like it — the warmth, the breeze through the open windows, the sound of the birds, waking up to full sunlight at 6am, the sound of kids playing outside, the itch of a fresh sunburn…
Okay, so not EVERY thing about summer is idyllic. I spent way too much time in the sun at the park yesterday wearing a tank top, and now I’m paying for it. Note to self: Self tanner does not equal base tan. I knew this, but it’s funny how your mind plays tricks on you. Or at least my mind’s a jokester. I don’t know about yours.
So back to my love affair with summer. I know what you’re thinking. It will get old. In just a few weeks I’ll be complaining about the heat. That come September I’ll be begging fall to get here.
Nope. You’re WRONG. I lament the end of summer every year, and every year I dread winter more and more. I have no idea why. It’s not like I don’t enjoy the changes of the seasons and all the holiday festivities that come along with cold weather. But still, all the while I’m waiting for the return of summer. I have been so happy lately. I am more content and less crabby with the kids. I really do think my change of mood is due in large part to the weather.
Its FINALLY warming up here in PA. It’s been a cold spring, but I’m expecting this warm snap to stick. It BETTER, that’s all I know. I am so totally and thoroughly DONE with winter.
Good-bye, winter. Good-bye dry skin and winter coats and gloves and hats and scarves and mittens. Good-bye static electricity and cloudy skies and frigid temperatures and achy joints. Don’t hurry back.
