MIRLING with LeapFrog!

Yesterday my good friend Sarah and I traveled to NYC for a mom blogger event sponsored by LeapFrog.  They wanted to introduce us moms to their newest toys and educational games and discuss how they can better serve the needs of modern moms and kids.  They were very clear that LeapFrog is not a toy company; it is an education company.  They take their task of creating educational toys very seriously.  We had a lively discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of this technology age and how to balance traditional toys and modern technology in our homes.  For more complete coverage of the discussion and the toys, see Sarah’s post at her blog, Genesis Moments.

A highlight of the trip was meeting Lynnette from lynnette {radio}.  The night before the event, I sent out an SOS email to the other attendees, asking for advice on getting from Philly to NYC.  Lynnette was kind enough to send me explicit directions on how to navigate the subway system, and we planned to try to meet up on the New Jersey transit commuter train.

As it turned out, she did find Sarah and me on the train, and there was no shortage of conversation as we jostled and jounced all the way to the Big Apple.  And in another crazy small world story, we discovered that Lynnette subscribes to mine and Sarah’s husbands’ Handyguys Podcast and actually met them both at PodCamp Philly earlier this year!  What a hoot.

We finally arrived at the Four Seasons for our event, and we cajoled the poor unsuspecting doorman to take our picture.

One of the best parts of this trip was meeting Jane and Audrey of Mom Generations.  I’ve been following their blog since they were the Pinks and Blues Girls.  I knew them immediately when they walked in the room, and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know one another face to face.

I called into the Philly Moms circle at The Motherhood several times on our way up and posted a photo of Sarah and me waiting for the train in Trenton.  It’s so cool to be able to post photos immediately and call in and leave voice messages at The Motherhood.  It’s also easy to embed them in your own blog, like this.

So fun!   You should try it out.   By the way, the Philly Moms circle is open to anyone.  The more, the merrier.  Feel free to post your own videos or voice recordings and join in the conversation!

And big thanks to LeapFrog for hosting this fun and informative event!
