This has been one of those mornings. We woke up late, I had the audacity to wash my hair and put on makeup before coming downstairs (nervy, aren’t I), I’m fighting off a cold, and the kids seemed to be moving slower than usual. As a result, only one child made the bus. So with all that, plus the fact that I’m a sucker for a cheesy meme and I’ve had this in my draft folder for about a week, I now give you the Christmas Meme. 1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper ALWAYS for the kids; gift bags are fair game for anyone else.
2. Real tree or Artificial? Real thing, baby.
3. When do you put up the tree? As soon as the last bite of Thanksgiving turkey has been swallowed.
4. When do you take the tree down? The week between Christmas and New Years. I find nothing more depressing than a Christmas tree still standing after January 1. And besides, we put ours up so early, 50% of the needles are on the ground by Christmas Day.
5. Do you like eggnog? Oh my yes. We make it a point to always have eggnog while decorating the tree.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Well there were several, but isn’t it funny that I can’t recall anything in particular? Goes to show, things aren’t what really matters in the end. My memories are of family and snow and Christmas trees and holiday shows and food. Oh the food, now THAT I can remember.
7. Hardest person to buy for? It’s a tie between my dad and father-in-law.
8. Easiest person to buy for? The kids. They like anything.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Hm. I don’t think so. Oh wait. Yes, a small white lighted piece that was a wedding gift from a family that was dear to me through my childhood.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Snail mail. There are some traditions that should never succumb to the conveniences of modern technology.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I wish I could tell you. But it wouldn’t be nice.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Cause we’re klassy like that.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Whenever the spirit leads.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I don’t think so.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My mother-in-law’s Christmas cookies!
16. Lights on the tree? Of course. White lights, pretty please.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Oh Holy Night
18.Travel at Christmas or stay home? We alternate every year. This year we’re traveling to Virginia to be with my family.
19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixon! Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen! But do you recall… the most famous reindeer of aaaaaaaaaall… Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Silver star from the Pottery Barn outlet. LOVE it.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning! How can you open presents before Santa comes?
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Christmas decorations put out too early. Patience, people! Let’s enjoy Thanksgiving first!
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? I like them ALL!
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Anything I don’t have to cook!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Health and happiness for my friends and family. Word peace would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath. A new car, a MacBook, and some bling wouldn’t hurt either! Happy smiles on my kids faces — okay, that’s my final answer.
Your list is pretty similar to what mine would be – I may have to do this meme- I’m not feeling well, and can’t think of anything exciting to post! LOL
