There was a lot of interest in my post about the laptop bags I was considering a few weeks ago, so I sent out a query to my PR peeps to see if anyone had cute, stylish laptop bags for review. Here is a video of several bags I tried out (and the one I’m keeping for my personal use!) and I have several more to tell you about that I didn’t see first-hand.
Laptop Bag Roundup from Jo-Lynne on Vimeo.
So as you can see, the bag I chose for myself is the Portfolio Bag by Built NY. It’s made of neoprene, which is wetsuit material. I figure, if it can protect the human body underwater, it ought to be able to protect my laptop.

I like that it’s slim and compact. I don’t plan to haul around my kitchen sink or even the contents of my purse in my laptop bag, so I didn’t want anything too cumbersome. It’s very comfortable to carry, either by hand or over my shoulder. And besides all that, it’s super cute, which is the most important thing after all!
The red bag you saw is by Reisenthel, a German company known for their reusable bags, carriers and totes. This is their new Loopbag Business, and it retails for $54.95.

It’s made of a sturdy, lightweight nylon. It features an adjustable shoulder strap and those eye-grabbing aluminum handles. The cool thing about this bag is that it can be a purse or a shopping bag when you’re not carting around your laptop. And it is so spacious that you can easily carry your laptop, purse essentials, and reading material with room to spare. Outside are two end pockets and a zippered pocket to keep your phone or keys handy.
The Targus Grove Sling bag of my husband’s is more of a rugged bag that retails for $64.99. The Grove Sling is PVC-free and features recyclable plastic accents and nickel-free metal to reduce the amount of toxins released into the environment. It is chock full of compartments to keep everything perfectly organized.

Just after I made the video, I received this leopard-print neoprene sleeve ($34.95) by DesignerSleeves.com. It’s designed specifically for the Mac Air so it fits like a glove. My laptop feels so safe and secure encased in this sleeve. If I were using one of the bigger laptop bags, I would double up with the laptop sleeve inside the bag. And it would make a great carrying case when you’re walking around, say, a blogging conference or something. The only thing that would improve upon it is a carrying handle, and some of their bags do have those!
What makes these sleeves cool is that they have a vivid, colorful image printed directly onto the neoprene — so fun and stylish! If you’re not a fan of leopard, there are many other designs to choose from.

Another bag that wasn’t shown in the video is this Square Bag by O Yikes. This is a great bag for moms because there is room to carry bottles, diapers, and toys along with your standard 14” laptop.

The size and shape of this Square Bag is an ideal all-around-bag, but is also a great fit when tending to energetic toddlers or rushing to work. The bag is lined in micro fiber with extra padding to protect your computer. It retails for $100 on CareerBags.com, which is a fabulous site for moms looking to “stay organized, look professional, and travel with ease.”
Finally, Fashion Flips, Inc. is debuting a laptop size bag this month that I hope to get a chance to review. Here is what they told me about it:
It is a laptop size bag which provides 5 different looks from one 2-piece system. The base bag alone is your basic padded laptop bag with a removable strap. The Flip Cover(TM) is reversible, providing two additional looks when slipped onto the base bag. The Flip Cover(TM) itself is a beach size tote which can be used on it’s own. So it’s basically five looks from one product — plus, you would never know it was a laptop bag.
Here’s the picture they sent.

So there you go! If you’re in the market for a laptop bag, here are five ways you can’t possibly go wrong.

Oooooooh. I’d have picked the one you chose, as well. And I love love loved this video. I don’t know why but I always imagined you to have a deeper voice – almost sultry.
You’re cute as a button!
Snort. Sultry? HAHAHA! No, I’m more like a gaggle of geese!
Excellent video blog. I also like the one you chose!!
Laptop bags have come a LONG way!
Tell Paul not to talk unless he gets in the video! Hahaha. Looks great!! You two are quite the media pair. Keep up the good job.
Yeah, I am so glad you got one! You know I like that brand, just a little jealous that yours is newer and cuter than mine!
ENJOY
Terra
You picked a very stylish bag and it will look great with any outfit. Ha ha – I’m with Megan, I thought you had a deeper voice too. You have great video presence!
I love it! Such a fun pattern and great protection. Very fun!
Had to laugh at Megan’s comment because I was shocked by your voice on Caroline’s baking debut! I’m not sure why and wasn’t even aware that I imagined your voice,, but when I heard it realized that I was expecting your voice to be lower as well! Too funny!
Ah, the joys of discovery about our bloggy friends!
Glad you found the perfect way to carry around your laptop. It’s cute!
Love the VLOG. And thanks for the reviews. I haven’t picked up a bag for my new Macbook yet, so this will come in handy!
Thanks so much for including our new laptop bag in your review. Sorry for not getting you a sample before you did this, but it has been a bit hectic here with the new product launch. I am really disappointed too that we were not in the running to become your official laptop bag=:( because I know you would have loved our bag! Anyway, thanks again for the exposure. I love your blog. It is so great to see “real” people criticquing products! Karen
Your bag is adorable and so are you!
Fantastic post! Love the bag you chose!
I have an HP that isn’t nearly as tiny as your mac, so I need a bigger bag. I use an ugly old black one. I definitely need a new one.
Love your choice!
Can I change the subject? Just wanted to let you know I’ve put a link to your “Not for the Faint of Heart,” from Nov. 21st, on my post today. Blessings, Grace.
Love the roundup! I went to the Designer Sleeves site and they actually do have leopard print bags with handles and shoulder straps. Good stuff!
Thanks for the suggestions! Not only do I need a new laptop bag but I need to buy the actual Laptop before Blissdom! I need to get cracking!!
I love your roundup of bags. I particularly love seeing how vastly different the styles are – its so good to know that we’ve moved past the basic ugly black bag!
Even though you’ve already decided which one to keep, can I share one more, in case other people are still looking? I just bought the Pinder GiddyUp laptop bag for women. I saw a friend using the brown and pink one, and LOVED it, so I had to get my own. I bought the black and blue one currently featured on the front of their website, and it is PERFECT. (http://www.pinderbags.com/) It fits my laptop, goes over my shoulder like a feminine looking purse, and has a separate compartment for paperwork and/or cords. It was exactly what I was looking for in a bag.
Just to put a plug in for saving money….I found mine on overstock.com and saved 70% off the list price!
