Tagged! Show Us Your Handbag(s)

in Fashion and Shopping,It's All About Me Me Meme!

Teresa over at Elebelly wants me to show my handbag.  Well you KNOW I need no more prompting than that.  I can always talk handbags.

Here are the rules, as instituted by this meme-originator and my friend Beth at Total Mom Haircut.

1) Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you cannot go up to your closet and pull out that cute little purse you used back before you had kids. I want to know what you carried today.

2) I want to know how much it cost :-) And this is not to judge. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I’d love to hear it.

3) Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you’re showing everyone your diaper bag/non-diaper bag.

I wish I had something new to show you, but for all the handbags hanging on hooks in my closet…

There is one that I carry 90% of the time.  You’ve seen it before, I’m sure.

I even had someone mention my purse in the comments when I posted this photo back in October.

Suffice it to say, I absolutely love this bag by Orla Kiely.  It’s laminated canvas so it’s impossible to wreck.  It has these cool magnetic tabs that close with no need to line up snaps or mess with a zipper, and yet it closes securely so I don’t lose the contents of my bag when I slam on the brakes and it flies off the passenger seat and onto the floor.  Which almost NEVER happens, of course.  Ahem.  Plus it’s roomy enough for all my stuff and not so big that it’s cumbersome.

I can’t remember what I paid for it, but it wasn’t cheap.  Orla Kiely bags never are.  But they are worth every penny, as I’ve had this bag for almost a year and carried it day in and day out and it doesn’t show a single sign of wear.  Friends, back me up here!

So I’m supposed to tag a few people.  Let me tag the people in my photos!  So that means:

1) Sarah

2) Lynette

3) Steph

4) Darcie

5) Shannon

6) Kim

Okay, ladies!  Show us your handbags!

P.S.  I have a super-dee-duper ORLA KIELY HANDBAG GIVEAWAY coming up in a few weeks!!!  It’s from their Spring 09 collection!!!  Stay tuned!

Very cute!
I have been looking for a new handbag! Mine is wearing out. I switch often but just have not lately and it is showing on this bag of mine.

I’ve been meaning to ask you a purse question. After you enlightened me about Sak bags, my husband bought a new one for Christmas (from the thrift store, $8).

When is it appropriate to carry that crochet style bag? Spring/summer only? It is black with a black leather strap.

Hey Meredith! You go, girl! A Sak bag for $8?? WOOT!

Personally, I would only carry crochet in the summertime. But if it’s black, and you love it and want to carry it all year-round, go for it! :-)

Can’t wait to see you again at Blissdom!

I am a massive Orla Kiely fan. I have one of her bigger bags that is on its last legs and am dying to replace it but can’t quite stretch that far right now. At the moment I carry a big slouchy black leather bag from ASOS and I think it cost me about $150!

Great bag! I also love the second one in your handbag rack shot…the red suede? Lovin it. It’s so awesome that you have all these photos with you and your bag as evidence :)

I enjoyed looking at all your purses! You have such a great style. The funky print of your Orla Kiely is cute. I played along too over at my place! Hope you are having a great week.

Noob Mommy, thanks. That’s from the Coach outlet. Honestly, it annoys me. It’s adorable, but so impractical. I hardly EVER carry it. I hate the hobo style. I LOVE TOTES! :-)

Cute bags! I’ve never heard of Orla Kiely, but yours is really cute! Good colors for you, too! I wonder if they have any browns for me….. I’ve been carrying this big brown sack I bought at a boutique. I wasn’t sure if I should stick with that or a Coach bag for the winter. One friend jokes that it looks like tree bark….. but all the others, including my friend Janel and my favorite fasionista Shari Braendel gave it a thumbs up! So I’m stickin’ with it :)

I don’t care for hobos either, partly because slouchy is just not my style. I love your ochre one. Come see what “blackbelt shopper” has been carrying around – like you haven’t see it. http://blackbeltoma.blogspot.com/2009/01/its-my-bag.html

Oh my goodness, I love that you have a whole trail of pictures that include The Bag. And it’s a beautiful bag, at that. I’ll be looking out for that giveaway…not that I need a new bag…because my Green Goblin is perfect…but just in case:)

Thanks for playing!
