Look what just arrived in the mail! SQUEEE!!!

I am so excited about my brand-spankin-new business cards. I ordered them from Overnight Prints, which is a misnomer. I mean, sure you can get your cards overnight if you hand over your right arm, or you know, for a price. But if you get regular shipping, it takes about a week, which is fine because THIS year I got my act together much sooner than I did the last time I decided I needed business cards.
Last spring, when I got invited to Disney World to a mom blogger mixer, I realized THE DAY BEFORE I LEFT that it might be nice to have a business card to pass around. So I real quick placed an order with Karla over at Fruition Designs (she does a GREAT job, by the way), who was able to get something back to me within a matter of hours. And then I shot it over to Staples, who got them all printed out in record time so I had cards for my trip.
But the cards didn’t match my blog design, so before going to She Speaks in July, I got smart and made up my own business cards to match my blog and ordered those cards from Vista Print. But they came back kinda fuzzy. And I was all, Vista Print ruined my gorgeous design! And I totally blamed Vista Print for my shoddy business cards.
Until I showed my neighbor, who is a REAL graphic designer, unlike myself — I just play one on the internet — suggested that perhaps I didn’t save the file in the right resolution. And he got all geek speak on me and I realized that I saved the design for the web (as I always do when I create a blog header) instead of saving it in a printable format. So then I was all, D’oh I guess there’s nothing wrong with Vista Print’s services after all!
He also suggested that the cardstock wasn’t very good quality and told me to order from Overnight Prints next time. SO. I went back and saved my design at the proper resolution and reordered, this time from Vista Print, and they came out perfect! And the card stock was much nicer, THANKS ANDREW!
But then January rolled around and I realized that I had all new blog colors so I decided to order fresh business cards in my new colors for BlissDom. I went back to my original file and changed the colors and ordered a new set. When the box arrived on my doorstep, I was so excited to rip into them. Until I found this.

Yep, I ordered 100 business cards with the red and blue “guides” printed on them — guides that you use to make sure that you leave enough room around the edges, but guides that YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO REMOVE before saving for print. D’OH! How many kinds of idiot am I? The site even warns about that before you place your order.
SO. I went back to my file and took a look, and would you know that I had done something in my graphics program to hide the guides from my view so that although I couldn’t see them, they were still there. WHO DOES THAT? Well I do, obviously.
SO. Take 2. I ordered AGAIN, and today I found on my doorstep 100 of the most adorable little business cards. They are just PERFECT, and they are printed on a very nice, thick, glossy cardstock, and on the back they list all my blogs and what they’re about. So I’m just about all set to go to BlissDom in a few weeks. Now all I have to do is decide what to wear!

These are so cute!!!
Those are awesome. I was just thinking recently that I need to order some cards with my new blog design!
They turned out great. I am super jealous
LOVE THEM.. too cute.
Adorable!
And thanks for reminding me I need to do mine!
Life Lesson: Don’t stop until you get what you want! Sometimes you have to do something over and over but when you get it like you want it…woo hoo! They look great!
I would like to place my order now for one of those cute cards at BlissDom, please.
Perfect…worth the wait!
Nicole, you got it!

Hee hee…I’m guessing the business cards are going to be the EASY part!
Super Cute!
They are adorable! Save one for me!
The cards are super cute – I even like the lines around the card! At least you’ve got some backups after you pass out the “good” ones.
Looking forward to hearing all about the conference!
They are adorable!
Your cards look great! Mine shipped today…can’t wait to see them!
Maybe you should add “blog card designer” to your list of services?

“Now all I have to do is decide what to wear!” she says.
OMG I have a headache already.
jk jl!
They are gorgeous…and they definitely make a statement.
I will likely check out Overnight Prints next time I need to order another stack of business cards. Thanks for the recommendation.
Very, very attractive! Professional looking! And I’ve never mentioned it before, I love your sub-title…Powered by Coffee & Handbags…cracks me up! Love your creativity.
Thanks, Grace! Wish I could take credit for the tagline but I held a contest and that one came from Stephanie at Adventures in Babywearing.
I’m still waiting for mine to come, but it makes me wonder — did you save mine in the right resolution?
Oh, very cute! I almost ordered some from Vista the other day. I am glad you wrote this!
Very nice! What a great touch!
They are super cute!!
I so love them. Very YOU!
Nell
I am supposed to be working… but your blog sucked me into its web AGAIN. lol I admire your writing style and want to be like you. Can you get more complimentary than that?
Anyhow, those business cards are the cutest. My first thought, was what’s wrong with the bordered-ones? Something sortof twinges in me, but not very loud. I’d have no idea at all how to design business cards… borders are out?
(I think I’ll stick to the techy stuff…)
LOVE THEM!!!! (even WITH the guide lines!!)
Very well done…even if it did take a few tries!
