Last week I accidentally hit the “Stumble” button on my Stumbleupon toolbar. Before I had time to hit the back button, this page came up on my computer screen. Now, I have heard of Pioneer Woman. (Who hasn’t?) And I’ve heard that she has THE BEST recipes. So when I saw the title of the post, I wasn’t about to click away. It took me approximately .05 seconds after reading the post to scan the ingredients list and email my husband an SOS message – Pick up buttermilk!
I made the cake the very next day just because. There was no occasion except for the one where you come across a decadent recipe that you Must. Try. Right. NOW. I wasn’t disappointed in the least. In fact, the cake lasted for approximately 28 hours. That’s a 13×9 sheet cake, y’all. It was GOOO-HOOD. And it didn’t hurt that I had the KEY-UTEST helper EVER.

Didn’t even last long enough to take a picture, huh?
love the pioneer woman! haven’t tried this recipe, i will have to pick up the ingredients THIS weekend. thanks for sharing:)
In our neck of the woods, it is called Texas Sheet Cake and my MIL makes it ALOT so I don’t need too. It is one of my favs and yes I could eat the whole thing by myself!!
YUMMO!
I often hit her site for recipes. She does have some the greatest ever.
I must must must send you the chocolate sheet cake recipe we have it is melt in your mouth yummy and SUPER easy to make. Maybe I will post it this week.
Good luck with your above conundrums!!!
I have that same mixer!! I don’t think they make the one with the red stripe anymore, and I like it a lot better than the boring silver one.
P.S. You’re right, your helper is pretty cute!
This recipe has been in my family for ages, except we add one teaspoon of cinnamon to the dry ingredients. Try it, you’ll like it!
Okay, I LOVE PIONEER WOMAN! She has the best recipes. You absolutely must find the recipe for the stuffed tomatoes and try them. I made them for New Years Day and they were so delicious and easy…actually my husband put them together because I was so busy making other things. We’ve had 2 other times since…one for another party and one just because I had tomatoes in the house and we like them! Will try the cake sometime in the future. Thanks for the cute picture of your little one!
Yep – absolutely adorable helper!
I haven’t tried that one, and probably shouldn’t since I’m trying to LOSE weight! But I did make two of her recipes for dinner the other night – two of her latest. Ranch Chicken and Fluffy Potatoes. OMGoodness, they were bothe so yummy! I’ve loved everything of hers I’ve tried so far, and there have been several. I think I need to wait to try this one when there are going to be lots of people around to eat it…otherwise most of it will end up eaten by me. And that would NOT be good!
I have tried lots of PW’s recipes and they are always soooooooo good. She doesn’t do low cal by any stretch but you only live once! Haven’t tried the sheet cake but saw it on her site the other day and thought I would when we have friends over, if I make it just for us I would end up eating 2/3′s of it myself!
Read her Black heels to Tractor wheels someday when you’ve got nothing to do…….v-e-r-y interesting! lol!
So now I know what we’re doing tomorrow! Wow that cake looks good. I never heard of Pioneer Woman before and now I’m going to check it out. I love the pics with her recipe, makes it easier for a non-cook like me. Hmmmm….I really think i”m going to make that cake tomorrow. I’d actually make it right now if I had any of the ingredients…
mmmmmmmmmm. cake. I might bake more if I had such a cutie pie of a sous chef!!
Oh, I know the cake you are talking about. It is absolutely delicious – even my Grandma has requested I make this – and she is hard to impress!
YUM! That really is making me drool. I so want to make this, but I so will eat the whole thing and then I so will gain 10 pounds.
She IS really cute! My daughter loves to help me cook too!
I wish you would have posted a picture of the final product. But maybe it was so good you didn’t have time for that…
