Time Waits for No Man (Or Woman)

This morning I met up with Girlymama at Panera.  As she said in an email, “I want to catch up with you outside of cyberspace.”  So that is exactly what we did.

Between trips to the potty (we each had a 3-year-old in tow) and trips to the counter (I had to keep my latte fresh!) and the 3 children we had between the 2 of us, we did manage to start several conversations.  I’m not sure if we finished one or not, but hey.  It was an outing.  And actually, we were fortunate to ONLY have 3 kids with us.  Can you imagine if we’d had all 6?

Oh look, here we are.  No, this isn’t Panera.  You’re a regular Sherlock Holmes, aren’t you?  This is Hilton Head two years ago, and I just felt like posting it.

Her baby is the squishiest, smiliest little bundle of lovin’ I’ve held since mine were little.  And my R was completely enamored.  When I was holding him, she was glued by my side as usual, and at one point she leaned in and whispered, “I want to bring him home.”

“Yeah, that would be fun,” I told her.  “But the thing is, they don’t stay like this for long.”

Truer words were never spoken.

  1. I know. Matthew is turning 12 on Sunday. TWELVE.

    It seems like just yesterday he was born. Where does the time go?

    My baby will be one in just over a month! OMG! How did this happen. That is one sweet girl you have there.

  3. Great pictures! Sounds like a fun outing. I know what you mean about “starting” conversations but not necessarily “finishing” them!

  4. Aaawwww – so cute! I am spoiled – I meet a friend for coffee almost every Friday morning – usually without any kids. We try our best to solve the world’s problems during our time – LOL!

  5. Great pictures! What fun!

    She would change her mind as soon as he started crying! My kids always said they did not want a brother or sister (not that we were asking them). They decided another brother or sister would be too noisy :}

  7. I so wish I lived closer to all my blogging buds :)

    Oh so true. I have been putting old pictures in albums this weekend as part of a huge holdhouse clean up project and a pre-curser to changing my website and printing my blog…what else can I do to hang on to the memories forever????

    I know what you mean about “starting conversations” and not finishing them with friends. It’s so hard to actually “pay attention” when you’re trying to keep track of a busy toddler in a public place!
