We went to midnight mass at Christmas and I saw several preteen girls with their pajamas and slippers on, presumably so they could jump right into bed after mass! So I don’t think wearing slippers to the grocery store would be too bad.

I hate shoes. I am barefoot or in flip-flops all summer and tennies or socks all winter. I’m normally barefoot in church If I *did* wear slippers I totally would have rocked them out!

I really haven’t, but it’s only because my slippers are most definitely slippers (they do have a hard sole, but they aren’t outdoor appropriate).

I also don’t really wear lounge pants out either, so if I get dressed (in jeans — a step above the lounge pants for outdoor wear), I put on socks and shoes too.

I have driven my daughter to the bus in PJs and slippers on rainy days.

P.S. Re: the principal’s note: PTA Moms always make me feel like I’m back in school — at the unpopular table.

LOL, I’ve long held the belief that one of the untold factors to be considered when choosing a preschool is knowing that, in a pinch, you can show up in your sweats, no make-up and hair unstyled. It’s gonna happen at some point when a sick baby has kept you up all night or something.

I’m not sure if I’ve gone out in my slippers, but I’ve made many a fashion faux pas.

I’ve never worn slippers out of the house. But I did have a very similar incident where 6 yr old missed the bus; we rushed to get ready and drop him off, and I ended up in the Target parking lot before realizing I was wearing tan cords, tan socks, and the black soccer slides I keep in the garage. It was snowing and maybe 10 degrees out…. Had to pick up a prescription and we were very low on baby wipes; going home to change would have made me late for toddler’s MDO daycare – the one 4 hour break I get in a endlessly long week (husband works far away and only comes home on weekends). I felt very self conscious – I could almost feel Stacy & Clinton sneering their disapproval. But soccer slides it was…. I now keep a pr of older sneakers in the car for such purposes!

Well, I have actually considered wearing my slippers to the grocery store – seriously, anyone with a baby or toddler would be forgiven, right? But at the end of the day, I’ve not done it. Probably more because I usually just live in socks at home most of the year. But I have worn sandals out of season because they’re the easiest thing to put on. I say – wear what you’ve got on! I come from the ‘grunge’ era, and LOVE wearing my pj’s in public. If “they” don’t like it…really, c’mon now, it’s the grocery store!

we don’t even have slippers in our house, we just wear socks … and the answer is yes, I have driven the kids to school in just my socks (hey, it is waaayyy too early to actually tie shoes on my feet) … and yes, I have gotten caught talking to the principal in the drop off lane with socks, ratty shorts that I pull on when I wake up, a long “stalker” coat … and the hair pulled up with pencils. Not a proud moment … my mother is still rolling her eyes!!
