What I Learned This Week Edition 8

I learned that no matter how nice it is to get away from the daily grind, life is waiting for you when you get back.

I learned that kids are mean, but with a little creative thinking, you can get out of having to drive your daughter to school.  Phew!

I learned that you have to stand up for yourself and declare what you are worth because no one else is looking out for your best interests.

I learned that March is the longest month of the year.

I learned that Oreos left unattended don’t last long.

  1. Kate says:

You’re so right: no one will stand up for you if you’re not owing it to yourself by doing the same. Respect yourself and others will follow!

  2. Wendy says:

That is true. Oreos just left lying about all willy-nilly clearly means that they are up for grabs. I find the best way to keep them safe from others is to hide them in my pockets and hope that no one notices the chocolatey ring around your lips.

  3. Neena says:

I get very possessive about my cookies – specifically Girl Scout Tagalongs. I make sure to never leave them lying around.

  4. Yeah. After I got back from my friend’s wedding in Hawaii, it was right back at it. No transition, no easing right back in.

Umm…oreos. They don’t last long here either. The spring ones are so cute.

  5. Terra says:

I am SO with you on the March thing!

  6. Julie From Inmates says:

That whole Oreos thing…. its funny how that happens.

Oh, and March it has crept along for sure. And so did February for that matter. Bring on the warm weather, April!!!

  7. Unfortunately, I am the Oreo stealer in this house. That’s why I never buy them.

Only a few more days left in March! Hang in there!

  8. Glad to know I am not the only one that thinks March is forever LONG! They spoil us with a short month of February and then March is a long one..

  9. March has been long for me, too. I guess it is cuz February is so short!

The Oreo thing is so true!!! Have you tried the Oreo Cakesters? Yum!

  10. Alison says:

You’re right–March IS soooo long. And I always forget that every year. Maybe it seems longer because February is so short.

  11. Hmm, of course I’m interested in item 3. You are such a tease ;-)

  12. nicole says:

I’m very curious about some of what you learned, but realize it may not be ours to know details. March is almost over! I was just getting ready to do the season switch in the closets, and will still do it, but saw on the news that we’ll be lucky to hit 60 degrees on Saturday. Just what I wanted to hear for the first day of t-ball stuff.

  13. LaDonna says:

Ok! I agree with you on the daily grind. Although the break can be nice, sometimes it’s more work to leave the daily grind for that break.

March is the longest month of the year! I agree!!!!

Here it’s chocolate left unattended tends to disappear.

  14. Kristin says:

My hubs keeps his own stash of Oreos in a high cabinet. No one is allowed to take them. Well…. so he thinks….

  15. Kellyn says:

March does take FOREVER. I can’t stand it.

Here Here for taking a stand! I am working on that as well, and it is not an easy thing to do.

  16. Emily B says:

March is my LEAST favorite month, closely followed by February and January. Amen to that!

  17. Sarah says:

    *Love it* on the Oreos!

  18. Carrie says:

We’re programmed out here in the Northwest to not even look forward to any kind of “Spring like” weather until May. :)

  19. dawn says:

kids are mean! and yes cookies left alone in my house grow legs and not walk but run off..love this meme..I’ll be pondering my thoughts and trying to put them into words on a post for this!

  20. Jensmere says:

What is it about March! Maybe it’s the weather changing…here in sunny Florida we are on a seesaw ride! At least there is no snow!!

As for the Oreos…my dh just asked me why I don’t buy the white chocolate covered ones any more. Those things get ‘inhaled’ I’m sure because they just disappear as soon as they are carried in the door.

Bless you! This is a great way to ponder my week!
    Susan

  21. Bonnie says:

I love this carnival. Maybe I will get in on it next week. I agree with you about March. I keep looking at the calendar thinking “are we done yet?”. March to me has always felt like such an in between month. Not quite Spring and not quite winter..

  22. Didi says:

I relate to your first ‘lesson’.

Been following your blog for a while now and I’d like to say I’ve really enjoyed your posts.

Thank you for such great insights into life as a Mom.

    =)

  23. Jo-Lynne says:

Didi – thank you! It means so much to hear that. :-)

  24. Jo-Lynne says:

Bonnie, please hop in next week! It’s very fun. :-)

  25. melissa says:

You are not kidding about March! Will it ever end?? LOL! And Oreo’s are in high demand over here too!

  26. Jennifer says:

I am so glad I found this! How fun. I loved learning about what you learned!

  27. Jennifer says:

I am so glad to have found this meme. Thank You!!

  28. Amy O'Neal says:

It’s funny you mentioned oreos, because I just so happen to leave the door to the snack closet open the other day and came back to find my two years snacking away. Gotta keep that door shut!
