American Idol Recap
**UPDATED with Adam’s Performance**

in American Idol Recaps

idol Tonight the contestants are singing songs from the year they were born, and we get treated to baby pictures. They start with “baby” pictures of the judges. High comedy, y’all.  And what is with that freakish guy on the front row who isn’t smiling or heck, even MOVING?  Did y’all see that?

Danny Gokey — Stand By Me: Okay, hate me, but I wasn’t crazy about that.  Maybe it was the arrangement, or maybe it was that I was still writing my introduction while he was singing and I didn’t have a chance to get into it, but it wasn’t my favorite Gokey performance.

Kris Allen — All She Wants To Do Is Dance: Okay, I’m frightened about this song choice.  Okay, well, I see that he’s trying to make it his own with a more bluesy arrangement but I’m not sure it works for this song.

Lil Rounds — What’s Love Got To Do With It: I’m crossing my fingers for Lil tonight.  She needs to knock this outta the park if she’s going to stay around.  I know I say that every week but really.  It’s high time.  Well, it seemed like a good song choice for her, and she sang it well, but she didn’t bring anything original to it.  The judges are really panning her.  I just want to give her a hug.

Anoop Desai — True Colors: Oh dear.  Anoop is singing Cyndi Lauper.  I repeat.  Cyndi Lauper.  Okay.  There were a few moments when I thought I might get into that, but I dunno.  I’m not as crazy about it as the judges are.

Scott MacIntyre — The Friend I Have In You: Scott’s out from behind the piano tonight and playing the electric guitar, which is interesting.  I didn’t think it was all that bad, but HE’S ARGUING WITH THE JUDGES.  And you KNOW how I hate that.  Movingrightalong.

Allison Iraheta — I Can’t Make You Love Me: Usually I hate it when young contestants sing songs that are too old for them, but dang if this girl can sing ANYthing and make it believable.  She is A-MAZING.  Love her.

Once again, Kara needs to quit repeating me.

Matt Giraud — Part-time Lover: That was impressive, I must say.  Got nothing much to add.

And Adam Lambert’s performance cut cut off.  How annoyed am I at this very moment?  Why can’t my DVR cut out Anoop or Scott, huh?  HUH?  Answer me that.

**UPDATE**  Thanks to Lois I now have Adam’s performance from YouTube.  I embedded it here in case you have your kids by your side, as I often do.  If you Google Adam’s name or search him on YouTube, there are photos around that you might not want your kids seeing just yet, I’m just sayin’.

I loved it.  I think he’s awesome.  But I’m still giving best of the night to Allison.

I will predict the bottom three to be…

Scott, Anoop, and Matt?

Going home: Scott, please.

Best of the night — ALLISON

I didn’t love the beginning of Danny Gokey’s performance. He livened up the end, but it felt quite late. STILL my fave though!

We watched AI for the first time last season and NEVER AGAIN. It takes so much time to watch! Don’t get me wrong… I LOVED every second of it but all that time…

Okay, Anoop was pretty good last night. Allison was AWESOME!!! Scott was pretty creepy, sorry. And I missed Adam also, only because I fell asleep and woke up when Simon was giving him a standing ovation. I found it on You Tube and it was excellent! I know a lot of people had the same problem you did, so I’m wondering if that might hurt his votes. Who knows. Have a great day!!!

You know I always look forward to your recaps.. I only watched bits and pieces. Too much going on at my house. Taking care of a new puppy for one.
I’m just not in love with any of the contestants this year. I like Danny and Adam but I keep waiting to get really excited about who’s going to win and I can’t seem to yet.

Bonnie, Funny, b/c I think this is one of the best seasons yet. Danny and Adam are both solid competitors. Matt is right in there. And I adore Allison. And Lil, if she could FIND herself, could be a contender too. I’m really enjoying it.

Matt is back!!! Phew!

I think they’re going way to easy on Lil. They tore Matt to bits when he blew it, and she hasn’t done too well for weeks now.

Danny and Adam are my favorite. Adam just because he is so creative! I can’t wait to see what he comes up with each week. He is also technically such a solid vocalist. It’s always great to see good technique represented.

Love your recaps, too!

Weird – twice I was leaving a comment, and my page reset in the middle and my typing was gone!

ok, as I was TRYING to say……

REALLY? you think Matt will be in the bottom 3? we LOVE Matt!

Do you notice they never say anything bad about Scott – not like they do to the others. Last night was just hard to even listen to him! – I really wonder why he’s made it this far!

My bottom 3 prediction?
Scott, Lil and Anoop or Kris.

I was bummed about Kris’s performance. I love him, but that wasn’t great. On the other hand, I have not been an Adam-lover, but based on how upset I was when I missed the end of his song last night, I believe he has won me over.

And Alison is crazy good. But how OLD am I? She was born in 1992? Yikes!

Bottom 3: Scott, Lil, Anoop
Going home: Scott. Please!
Performance of the night: Toss-up between Allison and Adam.

I was SO MAD that my dvr cut off before Adam. I changed my settings so it will record 15 minutes after the show is scheduled to end because this is the 3rd time it has happened.

I’m crossing my fingers that Kris will be safe. This is his first sour week. I think good ol’ Arkansas will pull him through.

I love your recaps too!

Adam did an amazing job, I thought–but what else is new? I’m not sure I want him to win the whole shebang though. I really like Allison and Matt as well. Allison is probably my second favorite on the show. She better not be in the bottom three this week!

I was a fan of Danny’s in the beginning, but I just don’t care for him as much anymore. I do like Kris a lot, but I don’t think he’s quite got what it takes to get him to the end. And Anoop I like too, but like with Kris, I only see him going so far on the show. I want to like Lil Rounds more than I do. I really really do. Her performances have been so disappointing lately though. I’m ready for Scott to go tonight. We’ll see if the rest of America agrees with me.

Since we don’t talk about the Ring of Fire week, I don’t think Adam has had a bad week. He’s been the most consistent, that’s for sure.
