I’m getting a late start tonight. I turned on the TV when Frankie Avalon was singing. I’ve seen him live. I can’t remember where or when or for what occasion, but it’s just one of those things that I’m sure of. Hunh.
So moving along. Are the group numbers getting better, or am I becoming immune to them? Cause that didn’t seem half bad.
Now we go behind the scenes into the makings of a Ford video. They seem like such a fun group of kids. Okay, when did I become my mother?
Oh my, does that crowd love Adam or what? After some small talk, Ryan asks Adam, Kris, and Anoop to stand. The judges are allowed to give their feedback on Adam’s performance last night because the show got cut short. After they pander over him, Ryan tells him to sit back down. He’s safe.
Kris and Anoop get a quick recap, and then Anoop is informed that he is in the bottom three. Kris is safe. Phew! Methinks that was a close one for Kris.
Now we get treated to a performance by Flo Rida. Can I let you in on a little secret? I love the original Dead or Alive version of this song. This one? Notsomuch. For one thing, the change in lyrics is um, a bit questionable. And then there’s the issue of the scantily clad dancers. But here I go channeling my mother again.
Danny Gokey is asked to stand, and he’s safe. Matt is asked to stand, but he too is safe.
Scott is asked to stand, and he is in the bottom three tonight. So far, no surprises. Let’s keep it that way, m’kay?
Allison and Lil are asked to stand, and Ryan is becoming painfully transparent in his attempts to trick the contestants. Allison is safe, and Lil is in the bottom three for the first time.
So the bottom three are Lil, Scott, and Anoop.
Simon states that there is one they might be willing to save. Hmmm… I wonder who tht is *cough cough* Lil *ahem*.
After a commercial break, Kelly Pickler takes the stage. Now this is an example of what American Idol can do for someone with nominal talent. I mean, Kelly is adorable, but her voice sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. She pumps her new album and her upcoming tour with Taylor Swift, and then Lil is sent back to safety. I do believe the judges save is alive for another week.
Then Anoop is declared safe, so Scott had the lowest number of votes last night. He’s given the chance to sing for another chance to come back next week, but given the judges’ comments last night, I’m not holding my breath for him.
Of course this IS American Idol, and what is American Idol without drama? After his performance, Simon announces that two judges think he should stay and two think he should go. No, no, no. Put him out of his misery. He’s a dear boy, but it’s his time. And Simon finally puts an end to the foolishness and says that it’s the end of the road for Scott.
And that’s a wrap.

For a second there, I thought they were going to save him. I actually think Lil oughtta go home. She has not performed well for the last 3 or 4 weeks. Not a fan of hers.
Anyhoo…I’ve got to go to bed. Sleep well!
Since you do not have a teenager, I will share with you what mine (girl 16 1/2) had to say about Mr. Rida – “Flo Rida – get it Mom, like Florida?” and then this gem “Yeah – I was singing along to this song the other day and when I heard myself I had to stop b/c I realized what it was about”. That’s not what it WAS about, back in the day.
I thought the judges had Anoop in mind when they said they might use the save.
I actually really thought Lil would go home. And I would have been really surprised if they had saved her considering how hard they have been on her every week and she keeps making the wrong song choices week after week. I think that comment about maybe saving one was all for the drama.
Yes, you must be immune to the group numbers. That one last night was miserable! The harmonies were all over the place. And I like Kellie Pickler and Taylor Swift. They are both cute and seem like sweet girls, and I even love their music – very catchy tunes- but I honestly don’t think either one of them to sing – though they both sound good after the music has been “fixed” (as in on CD).
I meant I don’t think either one of them CAN sing – sorry fighting with my computer this evening.
I missed Adam’s performance because my DVR cut off. I don’t know why it keeps doing that. I heard it was good.
I think it was Scott’s time to go but I actually teared up a little. He seems so sweet!
THANK YOU … I stumbled onto AI the other night when Kellie Pickler was singing (and, yes, I will admit I didn’t know who she was) and stuck around to hear the judges trash her – I thought she was that bad!!! Needless to say, I was shocked when they said it was actually her singing – her ‘recordings’ must look like my ‘photoshopped pics’.
