American Idol Results

idol It’s another Idol Results show and I’m getting hard pressed to find a new way to say the same exact thing week after week.  I still can’t understand why they insist upon making these results shows an hour long when 30 minutes would certainly suffice.

Ford video, blah blah blah, cheesy gratuitous group number, blah blah blah, Twitter commercial break, video footage of the idols at a movie premiere, awkward small talk between Ryan and the remaining contestants, et cetera.  And THEN we finally get down to business.

Allison is safe.  YAY!

Adam is safe, and Allison almost punches him in the mouth trying to congratulate him.  Nice move. You know, you can say what you will about Adam’s theatrics on stage, but he seems like such a humble, good-humored guy.

WHAT is going on with Kara’s hair tonight.  Electric socket much?

Anoop is in the bottom three, and they cut to commercial.  Gotta fill that hour, ya know.

Then, it’s Jennifer Hudson.   She’s come a LONG way since I “met” her on Idol way back when.

At Ryan’s prodding, Anoop expresses his frustration and surprise at being in the hot seats tonight.  Paula says something nonsensical that I’m sure she intended to be encouraging, and then Ryan asks Simon if Anoop deserves to be sitting there.  Simon replies with a curt YES.  Thank you, Simon, for keeping it real.

Simon takes an opportunity to give Kris feedback on last night’s performance and briefly tells him it was brilliant while Paula parrots “yes it was.”  Ryan makes a pathetic attempt to fool Kris, but instead it’s Lil who takes a seat with Anoop in the bottom three.

Matt butchers the English language answering one of Ryan’s questions, and Randy supports Danny’s choice of arrangement last night before Matt is placed in the bottom three.

Kara confirms that America got it right with the bottom three tonight, and Anoop is sent back to safety.

Now it’s a performance for the tween crowd.  I couldn’t tell my daughter that Miley Cyrus was going to be performing tonight or she may have staged a mutiny.  I have a lot I could say about this but I think I’ll keep my silence to assure that I don’t sound like an old fogy.

So it’s down to Matt and Lil. And Simon hints again this week that there is one contestant that he might consider saving with the Judges’ Save.  Oh how I tire of the drama.

The lights are dimmed, and Lil is proclaimed safe for one more week.  It’s Matt who has to sing for his life tonight, and if anything it’s worse than it was last night.

Yeowch, I’m glad that’s over.

The audience is chanting SAVE but I don’t expect them to sway the judges on this one.  And I’m wrong.

“Idol history has been made!” exclaims an exuberant Ryan.  Oh good grief.

Simon abruptly brings everyone back down to earth by pointing out that next week two contestants will go home as well as the fact that it’s Disco Week.  Oh well.  For now, Matt lives to see another Idol performance.  And that’s a wrap.

You know I am no Adam fan, but I do agree with your assesment of him. He does always seem very humble and grateful.

Totally agree about Kris – I adore Falling Slowly and he did a great job with it. Why was Kara saying how obscure the song was? Um, hello? It won an Academy Award!

I am surprised they used the save tonight – I think they should have waited for next week. Simon wasn’t exactly nice about it, but I think he’s right – can’t see Matt winning the whole thing, so why bother with saving him?

Thanks for the wrap-up!

Yeah, exactly. It made no sense. I wonder if Simon was out voted by the other 3. Seemed like it.

I have it on DVR but haven’t watched. Thanks for the recap, I don’t think I need to waste my time watching it now. I am surprised they used the save, I thought they would save it for a couple more weeks..

Bonnie – Srsly. What if someone actually GOOD gets voted off next week!? I’ll be peeved.

I think they felt like they had to use it, and were afraid of waiting till last week. Dumb. Show biz.

Fun recap. I never watch the results show because it conflicts with Lost..but I watched Tuesday’s show and am surprised that they gave Matt another chance…think they did so for dramatic affect.

What a waste of a save. I like Matt but I don’t think he’s that great, especially not winning material.

Yikes, is all I have to say about Miley’s performance. She was hurting my ears.

Good recap, I wish I had just read yours instead of watching, it too long.
