It’s Tuesday night again, and the contestants are singing “standards from the Rat Pack Era.” I’m disappointed that they are only singing one song each with only 5 contestants left, but I don’t make the rules, do I?
Jamie Foxx is the celebrity mentor, which I find interesting in light of his latest foibles. But then again Hollywood has never really been a respecter of moral decency. Why start now?
Kris Allen — The Way You Look Tonight: Kris is in his element with an emotional ballad. Ooooh, I like how he takes it up tempo halfway through and then back down at the end. Masterful! Way to go Kris. This guy has come a long way. His parents are so cute. Look how proud they are. The judges love it — all but Simon. He’s not so impressed. When Simon goes on like this, I always think he has a hidden agenda to discredit a contestant that he doesn’t want to see win, even if he doesn’t really think the performance is that bad. Is American Idol rigged? Hmmm…
Allison Araheta — Someone To Watch Over Me: Ironic Jamie’s advice to Allison considering his recent advice to Miley. I’m just sayin’.
I really like this more tender, innocent side of Allison. I rather miss her rocker chick side, but this is cool too. Shows her versatility. And Simon, you are a jerk. Kara, you are OFFICIALLY my new favorite judge. I might have to get out my phone tonight. Simon really seems like he’s trying to throw the competition. Unlike past years, at this stage, I think it’s anybody’s game. Let America decide!!
Matt Giraud — My Funny Valentine: Okay, someone needs to sing an upbeat song, and QUICK. I’m falling asleep. No, seriously, that was great. It was just too muck like the last two, and I’m ready for something modern and rockin’. The first three judges weren’t exactly feeling it, but ironically Simon is slobbering over himself to praise Matt after informing him when he used the Judges’ Save a couple weeks ago that he had no chance of winning. I really don’t get Simon tonight AT. ALL.
Danny Gokey — Come Rain Or Come Shine: Oh dear. This is gonna be another drowsy jazzy number, isn’t it? Well now, I like THIS Danny. He keeps upping the intensity, and he’s spot on vocally. This is definitely a different sound for him, and it suits him much better than bee-bopping around the stage, although I generally prefer a more upbeat number. But this was HAWT. Even Simon is coming to his senses. And I will admit that this performance by Danny overshadows the first three. It had that little something extra that the others didn’t seem to muster.
Adam Lambert — Feeling Good: Another quintessential Adam Lambert performance. I love this guy. I know not all of you share my opinion, but he is so incredibly talented, I just don’t know how you can’t love his performances. Who cares if he’s theatrical or Broadway or dramatic? He’s stinkin’ AWESOME.
Do I have to choose a bottom THREE this week? ACK. I love you Allison, but Danny out sang you tonight, darlin’. The bottom three has to be Allison, Kris, and Matt.
Going home: Matt (although I’m worried for Allison.)
Best of the night: It’s a tossup in my book. Adam takes it for consistent brilliance, but Danny takes it for coming out of the woodwork and wowing us. Either way you slice it or dice it, these guys should be in the top 3.

I love Adam, too – though I have to say, I’m starting to get a little bored. I’m so used to watching the contestants come into their own, and well – he was already there. His consistent wow factor has gotten super predictable and I dare say, a little boring. There are worse problems to have…
I love Danny, too and have all along, but have been more disappointed than impressed with him through out the competition. I hope he continues on tonights trajectory. If so – we are in for a show. That was super fantastic!
I agree with your bottom 3 choices.
I agree with your love for Adam. Theatrical is good – it makes him interesting! And that voice… my land…
I just loved Danny tonight. I loved Kris and Allison too, but Danny was my favorite. I defitely think Matt is out after that performance tonight. And I agree with Rachel in that I’m getting a little bored with Adam. I also wonder if that high pitched voice is kinda made up…just saying.
I agree as well, but I’d say Matt and Kris for the bottom 2.
I totally agree about Simon. He is not so subtle anymore with his bias and it’s getting on my nerves. I think he wants Adam to win because they know they can make TONS of money on him – he’s got it.
I agree about Adam, too. He is a true artist and vocally impeccable. Love Danny too, but he has a totally different vibe. Can there be two winners?
Simon is usually so right on…he was right ON SOMETHING tonight….Did Paula share with him? LOL! Seriously, I was watching at a friend’s house last night, and we also think Simon is trying to throw the competition.
Bottom 3: Matt, Allison, Adam (it was too over the top for me and lost some of the essence of the song)
Going home: Matt or Allison
Performance of the night: Danny. Hands down. iTunes, here I come!
I’m with you on loving Adam! And Matt really does need to go home! I’m so super in love with Allison… she is amazing… in my opinion she totally blows Jordan Sparks outta the water!!!
Kanoe, YES! I wasn’t that impressed with Jordan during AI season. She’s done well, but she was no where NEAR as consistent or as aware of her personal sense of style as Allison is.
YES! I TOTALLY agree, Simon has been blatantly trying to steer votes in the direction he wants! It’s REALLY not fair. Some he NEVER says anything bad about, and other’s he can RARELY ever say anything good about.
My Fav’s last night – a tie between Kris and Danny
sorry – Adam still does nothing for me – I’m getting very tired of him. I was so happy to hear Randy’s comment! LOL
I agree, I think Matt will go, but he’s on Vote for the Worst – so it could be Allison – who I also like

Danny won the night. Adam showed way too much tongue. I know he will win. I don’t have to like it. I liked Allison for the first time all season. Matt goes home.
I really appreciate your recap because I missed last night and somehow my husband’s one-sentence summary didn’t quite leave me feeling in-the-know! I really think Adam is going to win because he is such a singing MACHINE, but I’m confident the others will be successful in their own careers. Adam’s not really my type of musician. I’m more likely to buy an album from Kris, Matt, or Danny… I’m sorry, but I’m just so glad Scott is gone! I was getting rather embarrassed for him…
I agree with you about AI being rigged. Well, maybe not “rigged” exactly, but I definitely think Simon has an agenda. You’re absolutely right – he’ll say something negative about a performance (even if it was flawless – even if I think HE THINKS it was flawless) just to try to sway the voters. Take Allison for example. She was perfection last night. Looked great, sounded amazing…perfect, in fact. Absolutely beautiful voice. What’s to complain about? Enter Simon, who claims she “doesn’t care about winning”. Ha! I think the man fancies himself a Puppeteer. Pull the strings and watch America dance to my commands.
It really irks me sometimes.
So, I was wondering. What was it Jamie said about Miley? I knew there was a controversey but I never heard what.
I agree with you on the bottom 3. It’s funny I didn’t think I cared for Adam at first but now I really look forward to him. He kind of reminds me of Freddie Mercury from Queen with his dramatics. I like it, he’s unique.
I agree with you, I think Allison goes home tonight.
As far as Adam…he is so far ahead of the pack, it’s ridiculous!
My boyfriend Danny was perfect last night. And, Kris was a strong second. Sorry I still don’t share the love for Adam. Although he is very talented, I have been wowed by Danny and Kris since week 1. I would say Allison will go tonight. After that, I will be happy no matter who wins (DANNY!). Enjoyed your recap, as always!
Maybe Simon was sipping Paula’s water tonight? LOL.
Loved Kris and Danny. After reading quite a few people, not just commenting here, saying they are getting bored with Adam, I’m wondering if we’re not going to have a shocker elimination.
Susanne, stranger things have happened! I’ll never forget when Chris Daughtry was voted out.
