Easter Festivities

If you celebrate Easter, I hope you and yours had a nice one.  And a warmer one than the one we had.  Because there’s nothing fashionable about putting a parka over a sleeveless, floral cotton dress on Easter Sunday.

Yeah, I wasn’t joking.  You can see a portion of my other child in the background, standing in the doorway, unwilling to brave the cold, despite my  attempts at bribery.  So we returned inside to take the rest of our Easter pictures.

Earlier that morning, I got up at dark o’clock to play Easter Bunny. I was halfway into the task when I heard my 3-year-old wailing at the top of the stairs. I ran up to find her in hysterics because she woke without me next to her in the bed so I did the only thing I could do — I invited her downstairs with me to help. I told her that the Easter Bunny was running late so he left the Easter eggs and bags of candy for me to fill. She was a great help, as you can imagine.

The next child to arrive on the scene was my 6-year-old.  She was delighted with her loot.

My son was the last to arrive, and you can see by his face that he was still half asleep as he stumbled downstairs to find his basket.

The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades!

They all got sunglasses among the other goodies in their baskets.

After church, we went to my inlaws’ for lunch, where there were even more Easter goodies to be had.

And the kids even got to hunt Easter eggs around the living room.  (Too cold to hunt eggs outside!)  After the traditional gluttonous ham dinner, we did what all families do after a big holiday meal — we settled down in front of the TV to watch a ballgame.  GO PHILS!

And today it’s back to life as usual.  The big kids are back to school today.  My littlest one and I are taking it easy, waiting until the very last minute to change out of our pajamas before our date with the kindergarten pickup line.  And I have a week full of writing deadlines, blog designs, and Little League practices to attend — just the way I like it.  This morning I am particularly grateful for life’s uneventful routine as two bloggers have lost children this week.  Their heartbreak is unimaginable to me.  Please keep them in your prayers.
