Truly, the church is more like a prison than a hospital. We're not merely wounded people, we are guilty people.
However, I would also submit that there are some things worth fighting for. As a regular reader of Christian blogs I can make an educated guess as to the issue you're addressing. It falls squarely into the "worth fighting for" category.

Great post, my friend. Great post. And I personally needed to hear some preaching in the middle of my week, so I appreciate your message. I've been really discouraged over a family member getting upset over this very issue, and your clear response is what my heart knows...but my mouth just couldn't say. Thank you!

Beautifully done, Jo-Lynne.

And I personally needed to hear some preaching in the middle of my week, so I appreciate your message. The difference between the saved and unsaved is that the saved are forgiven, reconciled to God, and have the power of the Holy Spirit to change sinful thoughts and behavior. The sin nature is still there, but we are now overcomers because of Christ. It's a shame if Christians do not live there, thus bringing shame to the name of Christ.

Excellent post, Jo-Lynne. God spoke to me in that still small voice (one of the few times I have been quiet long enough to hear him) and I felt His spirit telling me that the only woman in the church I needed to concern myself with was me. From that moment, I have tried to focus my attitude and behavior only on MYSELF. Sometimes I think we get caught up in DOING for Christ instead of BEING for Christ. We are Human Beings after all, not Human Doers.
This post was so eloquently written. It really touched me.

I remember early on in my Christian walk being upset that a handful of ladies at our church did 99% of the work. And I relate with what Moriah said. There are some of us who are keenly aware of our sin and try to do our best to overcome it, yet still face judgment all the same.
If only we knew how to be perfect..

All I can say is, Well Said Jo Lynne. <img

The entire group is judged by the worst of the lot. There are plenty of people of every religion that do their best to live true to their faith. And then there are those that use their religion as an excuse to pass judgment on others, act superior to them, and (in the extreme) murder people who don't share their faith. Unfortunately, the loud, obnoxious, dangerous people are the ones who often bring the most attention to the faith, painting all followers with the same brush.

I think a similar thing happens to every group of people from teenagers, to cops, to Christians and everything in between.
