Okay. Who was praying?

I’m feeling better already.  Maybe getting outside for a while yesterday afternoon did me good.  When I came back inside, I had barely been at the computer for 10 minutes when my 3-y/o threw open the front door and ran to the bathroom in a frenzy.  The next thing I knew I heard crying, “Mommyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!  I peeeeeeed!”

I found her standing in a puddle of her own making.  Oh joy.  Strangely, I didn’t want to scream or cry.  I stoically picked her up and carried her at arms-length up the stairs and deposited her in the bathtub where she proceeded to bathe herself.  I didn’t even know she could DO that (my husband usually does batht ime.)

While she bathed, I puttered.  I wasn’t feeling particularly energetic, and yet I just kept picking up one more thing, emptying one more laundry basket, putting away one more stack of clothes, making one more bed, and before I even realized what I was doing, the upstairs was in pretty decent shape for the first time in quite a while.  It helped that the other kids were playing outside so that no one was making more mess in my wake.

I can’t say I feel GOOD, but I feel BETTER.  Strangely, it’s gloomy outside today, but I’m sitting here in my slippers with my coffee by my side in a fairly clean house and feeling somewhat motivated to do what I have to do.  Thanks for all of your support and encouragement lately.  I apologize for not responding to everyone individually but please know that every single comment is appreciated.

I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I definitely prayed. Sometimes it’s hard to find things to be happy about. Laugh every day, even if it’s at yourself!

    I’m happy you feel better!

I’m telling ya, “Bring on the Whine Wednesday” (or Tuesday…lol) is almost your civic duty to help those of us that suffer from this almost daily! I like to think of it as empowering us women who simply aren’t that great at keeping it all together to commisserate about that fact and get it off our souls! It’s cathartic, it’s healing, it’s yet another excuse to eat chocolate! You’d be doing a service to women everywhere!!!

Glad you’re feeling better, by the way! Now, since my kids are both in school, I’m going to have to try and convince my hubby to take a bath so I can try to get some cleaning done and see if that works for me the way it worked for you. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though!

  4. I haven’t been by in a while, because I was feeling overwhelmed myself, and couldn’t even muster the energy to read blogs. That’s pretty sad isn’t it?

So I just read your post from last week. We all have days, weeks, sometimes months like that. But I think we don’t want to admit it. It was great to read your open and honest post.

As great a job as being a SAHM mom is, it’s also a really hard job. We’re entitled to crack up a little once in a while. :)

I’m glad you’re feeling better! I do think sunshine and warmer temps help a lot.

I am glad you are feeling better! Sometimes it takes one simple (though messy)thing to snap us back into the groove. Hope you have a great day!!

Flu is so not fun. Sounds like it is going around everywhere. Glad to hear you got your house clean though. That makes things feel manageable. It is snowing here again today. Makes me not want to do anything.

  11. Lovely to hear things went better :)

  12. soo glad you are feeling better! I must have been having the same issue.. I cleaned and got a bunch of things done on my to do list this morning and Im feeling so much better.. hmm so maybe thats our problem ;-)

  13. Oh, good! I’m so glad you’re feeling a bit better. After having my ridiculous breakdown on Sunday, I’ve made an effort to be more productive this week. And what do you know, but I feel better. It seems that once again I’d gotten sucked into the cycle of feeling bad so I don’t do anything and then feeling worse because I don’t do anything.

Anyway, back to you – and I’m glad YOU are having a better day!

OK I think my work computer ate my comment…glad you are feeling better! :)

The sun is out today in Nashville and it’s done wonders for my mood.

Yea! This was good to read. Maybe since you weren’t thinking about all that needed to be done, and just doing what was right in front of you, you were able to get more done than expected. And maybe I need to try that before my husband loses his mind.

  17. Emily B says:

    Good!!! I’m glad! =)

Glad you are feeling better! I also find that puttering around can get a fair amount done – and that always helps.

Ohmygosh we all have days like that! I does definitely make you feel better when you can get stuff done. Sometimes the Nike commercial is right–Just Do It. Glad you are feeling better!

  20. O.K., I threw one up for you. I felt so bad for you after your last post. Hang in there. You are in the HARDEST stage of motherhood. In fact, my husband and I were just talking a couple of hours ago about that point in our lives–it was hard. Hellacious at times.

Just hang in there. You can do this!

  21. Kim says:

Woo! Hoo! I’m glad you are feeling better. It’s good to get those feelings out there so people can be praying. We can’t always be perky and act like nothing bothers us. We bloggers are human too! LOL. Hmmm that sounds like a post right there! LOL.
    Hugs.

  22. Did you consider getting one of those full-spectrum lamps next to your computer?

So glad that you’re feeling a little better – hope those blues stay away!

I have found that so often — that I can be feeling just freakin’ horrible, but if I somehow manage to get one foot in front of the other, I can get moving and be (reluctantly, yes) productive…. I feel better in the end.

  24. kristine says:

I would not putter with a 3 year old in the bath. A child can drown in just 2″ of water. They can slip and hit the noggin.

No offense, but if you are using this blog as an example for your blog design business, you may want to check for typos before hitting publish.

    Hope you feel better.
