What I Learned This Week Vol. 17

what-i-learned-this-weekThis week I learned a few things of note:

1) I must really be addicted to blogging because last night after I posted that I enjoyed my unexpected blogging break, I realized that I had posted on Saturday morning.  So in reality, there wasn’t much of a break at all.  And yet, I was feeling quite disconnected from the cyber world in all the busyness of the weekend.  And it was kind of nice.  I must make an effort to unplug from time to time.

2) Being able to sit by the pool and peacefully read a book ain’t all it’s cracked up to be.  For years I’ve said I can’t wait for the day that I can be one of those moms sitting on a lawn chair in the grass, holding a book and pretending that my eyes aren’t closed behind my sunglasses while my kids romp and play in the pool without the need of my supervision.  Yesterday I had a taste of what that will be like when my husband and I took our kids to the pool, and he told me to go relax, that he could handle them.  But I soon found myself twiddling my thumbs and returned to my perch on the side of the pool with the kids.  Old habits die hard, I suppose.

3) I learned that there are many ways to make a mojito and that I am just the lady to taste test them.  I’ve been experimenting with recipes, and I think I have found The One.  I’ll share in another post.

So what did you learn this week?!

I think Mr. Linky is sick this week, so leave your links in the comments!

I love swimming in the pool with my kids. My oldest can swim no problem but the youngest still needs me and I love it! Sending a few prayers your way for the pinic planning, good luck. Sample a few more Mojito’s and it should be smoothe sailing.

  9. I learned about rabbits,my dh and the media, piano exams and guilt – a busy week!

(If you have trouble visiting my blog please give me a shout – it has been misbehaving!)

  10. And are you going to make mojitos for those 60 people at the picnic? :) I hope all the planning goes well – seems like this time of year gets so busy!

For once, I actually posted about learning something and Mr. Linky goes away!

  11. Please share your mojito secrets. My friends all claim I make the BEST mojitos they’ve ever tried, but I use a mix and just add a few extras so I don’t think it’s all that special… but I can’t wait to see your recipe!

  12. Have never had a mojito. I learned the refresh button is there for a reason =)

That is so interesting about lounging with a book not being what you expected. I’ve been wanting to do that for 6 years–and I’m not done with hands-on supervision yet! I guess I might miss it when I’m not needed so much too!

  16. Kellyn says:

I can’t sit by and just watch, at all. I have tried time and time again and it makes Hubby laugh each time.

  17. Isn’t amazing that we (and by “we” I mean mommies) beg for time alone, but when we finally get it, we can’t enjoy it? I think we are way to programed!

My lessons this week stem from what it is like to be married to an unbeliever and watching God work on my husband’s heart. A reminder that everything is possible with God.

I think I learned this week that I want your mojito recipe. LOL! I’m growing mint (in a container…I have no desire to be the reason why mint took over Denver…) for a reason!

  23. Mojitos are so good. I think better than margaritas – ok, maybe a tie.

Good luck with the picnic – wishing your sunny warm skies.
