This week was a doozie, but I’m not sure I learned anything. Rather, I’m not sure I took the time to learn anything. I’m pretty sure there were lessons to learn, but sometimes life is just too busy to reflect on it.
But here’s a few things I gleaned:
1) When I nap for four hours and then go to bed for the night at 9PM, I will probably have trouble sleeping and will wake up at the butt-crack-of-dawn. And when I wake up at the butt-crack-of-dawn, my 3-year-old will likely wake up as well. Which does not bode well for a peaceful day.
2) When you have a doctor’s office that does blood work in house, it is best not to leave said doctor’s office for a closer option that does NOT do blood work in house. Because if you have a medical condition that requires regular blood work, the trek to the old doctor’s office is well worth the convenience (or the inconvenience — depending on which you are focusing on). I have tried THREE TIMES to get my blood work done out here, and still to no avail. And I’m running out of my Synthroid. I think I’d rather drive 30 minutes for every sniffle than to go on a wild goose chase every time I need my blood drawn.
3) A calendar doesn’t work very well unless you LOOK AT IT. I missed yet another dentist appointment this morning. Perhaps I should stop scheduling appointments on Mondays. I can’t seem to get my act together before mid-week.
4) Speaking of mid-week. We are celebrating the end of school by going to Hershey Park. We splurged and reserved a room at the Hershey Lodge so we’ll be staying overnight. I can’t remember the last time my kids stayed at a hotel (I’m not sure they ever have!) so they’re in for a treat. I can’t wait. And I’m wide open to dinner recommendations. There are several restaurants on the premises. And no, there are no lessons in that one. You aren’t missing anything.
5) And finally. When you get up at the butt-crack-of-dawn, you will likely be tired by 10PM. That is all. Good night.
What did YOU learn recently??

Now THAT is a lot to learn. I’m tired just reading about it. And you’ve reminded me to get off my rear and schedule my physical since hypothyroidism runs in my family and I’d love a medical reason for my weight gain and fatigue.
Also… You’re probably in bed now, but Mr. Linky does not appear to be on the post. Either that or I’m too tired to find him. I’ll check again in the morning.
Thanks! Found him!
The calendar? Yes, it helps to look at it. Sometimes I forget to do that too! =)
I just never schedule anything but the grocery store for a Monday!
I am with you on checking the calender….but even that does not guarantee success!
Yesterday morning I noticed my son had a party in the afternoon (that I had forgotten about), I bought the present, had it wrapped, then forgot about it….until 10 minutes before I had to leave for said party, suddenly remembered, and there was a mad scramble to get son changed and everyone out of the house.
I can relate my friend. Especially the whole calendar thing. I’m faithful to write the things on it but not to look at it ever again! LOL.
Hugs.
Kim
My best small silver friend, the Treo 650, has a calendar that CHIMES for those of us who are thyroid impaired and forget to actually look at the calendar.
Have fun at Hershey Park! This Texan has never been there but it has always sounded like fun.
Oh can’t wait to hear more about Hershey Park. We’re thinking about going there. My kids love hotels too…what is it about a room with 2 beds and a tv?!?! Last summer they wanted to leave historical Philly for the hotel (which ended up being a dump but they loved it).
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who says “butt crack of dawn” still- just as I did in 7th grade. Thanks for that.
And hope you have a great time at Hershey Park. We’ve always wanted to go there and hubs has been there before. He says the whole town smells like chocolate; sounds like heaven to me! Living in AL isn’t quite conducive to galavanting to PA, so we’ll just galavant to FL. Have a great trip!
Susan, yeah. I have that too. @@
But honestly, you guys DO make me feel better. Thanks for that.
I work at the hospital right across the street from the Lodge! I can probably help you find a good place to eat in the area
Some of our favs for dinner in Hershey are the Choc. Ave grill right on rt.422.. they have a great outdoor area and sandbox for kids to play with. Or Fire Alley it is designed to look like a main street.. or Dafnos.. super good Italian food. HOpe this helps!
Love it! I am always recording things down in my calendar and then forget to look at the calendar only to forget some appointment. Oh, I don’t feel so bad now!
Get some rest.
I’m with you on being more of a mid-week gal. Mondays seem to be very blurry.
I don’t have any recommendations for Hershey’s, but I’ve always heard good things about it. Can’t wait to hear your take on it when you get back. Have fun!
My link posted twice…it didn’t show the first time. Strange.
Anyway, I drive 35 minutes for my doctor. I don’t mind the drive, she is wonderful. Boo’s doctor is there too, SO WORTH IT!!
We went to Hershey way back in ’99 on the Hubby’s first Sabbatical. We did the whole back east thing, 13 states (in a van) in 30 days. And I have to say Hershey was a highlight! Course, the kids were 7,9 and 11 at the time. Could’ve been why the chocolate place was a hit.
Hmmm…that calendar thing will get you. At least, it’s gotten me! I try to remember to look at it, but for some reason, I forget. So pointless…
Eat at the Red Robin on the corner across from the gas station outside Hershey Park. We ate there last week when we went to Hershey Park – it was YUMMY!!
I posted about the same calendar difficulty a while back. Definitely not helpful if you don’t look at them. Hope to get my post up soon, Blogger is giving me fits right now.
You said: “A calendar doesn’t work very well unless you LOOK AT IT.”
Ha! That line made me smile because I am sooooo bad about looking at my calendar. I need a better system.
Have fun @ Hershey Park! I bet your kids are going to love it.
