Out With The Old, In With The NEW!

Good-bye to the oven with 152 parts that I can never quite get clean and the microwave that sounds like a helicopter landing…

old

Hello, Lover.

new

Someone just pinch me.  I  mean, isn’t it just GORGEOUS!?

And as if that weren’t enough, I have never in my life had an oven with half the features of this thing.  The delivery guys were like, “This is top of the line.  They don’t get much better than this.”  With every cool feature they showed me, I was all, “I’ve never had anything like this before!”

I feel like a kid on Christmas Day.  And you know the cool thing?  It was scheduled to come on my birthday.  I didn’t know it, and when I was at the beach I got the call from the delivery guys trying to find my house.

As soon as they left I made fried eggs for the kids and me for lunch.  Oh, and get this.  When I informed my kids that we will not be eating boxed cereals for breakfast every day anymore, but I will be making eggs or oatmeal instead, my son actually got excited about my new whole foods initiative.  Hey, that’s kind of catchy.  Maybe I’ll make that the title of a weekly column and keep you updated on what I’m learning and the changes we are making in our eating habits.

But back to my new stove and microwave.  SQUEEEEE!  The stove actually has a pizza and a chicken nuggets setting.  And it came with an iron griddle that you place over an elongated burner that runs down the middle, between the 2 sets of 2 outside burners.  And the warming drawer…  I’m in heaven.

And there is so much more.  I don’t even know what the microwave does yet, except sit there and look pretty (and it runs QUIETLY, unlike my old one that sounded like it was going to blow at any second.)

Thank you, Frigidaire and Mom Central for allowing me to be a part of this exciting program!

Oooh, and if you want to enter to win your own Frigidaire Affinity Washer and Dryer, click on over to My Motherload and take the Daily Dare.  You can’t win if you don’t enter!  ;-)

I am so excited for you! And what great timing, when you will probably be needing to spend a LOT more time using the stove. I went over and entered to win the washer/dryer because you are right, you can’t win unless you enter. Speaking of which, I entered a contest a few weeks ago and last night found out I won a trip to BlogHer!!! Hooray for blogger prizes!

Yeah for you! Good quality appliances make cooking and cleaning so much easier. I just recently got a new Frigidaire range and the first few things I tried to cook were scorched because I wasn’t used to the elements heating up so fast. My baked goods turn out beautifully in the convection oven. Have fun with your new “toy”.

Hey, I have a cooktop that works and my kids still eat cold cereal out of a box every morning. Does that make me a bad mommy??

Bwahahahaha! I LOVE this:

“my son actually got excited about my new whole foods initiative . . . Maybe I’ll make that the title of a weekly column and keep you updated on what I’m learning and the changes we are making in our eating habits.”

AND

“The stove actually has a pizza and a chicken nuggets setting.”

I just showed my 14 year old son this comment and even HE laughed!

Are pizza and chicken nuggets part of the new healthy eating plan?

Ha. Not at all. Ironic timing, eh? I could have used this the past 9 years tho! :-)

Just a quick tip– a new study showed the children will try more new foods and continue eating them if they’ve got cool names “ie “X-Ray Vision Carrots”

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/03/090302120019.htm

Might help with the whole foods idea!

Thanks! Worked with my kids. They love “bunny carrots” – the real ones, not the mini ones in the baggies. :-)
