Survey Time

**UPDATED WITH RESULTS AND AN EXPLANATION**

My friend Mary at Giving Up On Perfect did a survey, and it looked like fun so I thought I’d try one of my own.

So pretty please, if you don’t mind, take the time to answer 10 quick questions?  Most are multiple choice.  Inquiring minds wanna know…

***Unfortunately, and I didn’t realize this, the survey closes down after 100 responses are submitted. If I want to open the survey for more participants, I have to pay $20.  And that’s per month, if I keep my account, which I wouldn’t, but then what it’s not easy to close and they keep charging me?  Um, thanksbutnothanks.

So um, while I really want to hear what the rest of you think, I’m not sure it’s worth $20 to me at this point and time.  Although I admit, I SERIOUSLY considered it.  I may try to find another survey program that doesn’t place these limitations.  But for now, thanks for your responses!!!!!  It was enlightening.  I will share the results.

1.  72% who responded to the survey read every day. WOW.  I’m humbled. Truly.

True confessions:  There is no blog that I read every day.  *slinks away*

2.  61% subscribe through a feed reader.

3.  38% can’t remember how they discovered Musings of a Housewife.

23% found me on someone else’s blogroll.

4.  57% are in their 30s.

5.  98% are female.

6.  Favorite topics vary widely, which makes me happy.  That means that my instincts are right.  If I keep up a variety of topics, there is a little bit of something for everyone.  So much for having a niche.  HA!

NOTE:  The following percentages don’t add up because I allowed multiple responses to this question.

79% love my rambly stories about life. Bless your hearts, you are patient people with a hearty attention span, as those posts tend to be a bit, um, lengthy.

59% like my thoughts and observations.

48% like the posts about faith and Christianity.

44% like posts about fashion, recipes, and health and wellness (real food).

American Idol recaps and giveaways aren’t so popular.

7.  86% are parents.

8.  42% are not employed and 27% work full time outside of the home.

9.  38% have kids in public school, and 29% have kids too young for school.  The rest either don’t yet have kids or do private schools or home school.

10.  I love reading the responses under “What do you like best and least about Musings of a Housewife?” I appreciate the honesty in the parts that you’re not so fond of, and of course the positive comments make my heart warm and fuzzy.

Thanks for taking the time, those of you who were able and willing to take the survey!  This was fun and enlightening.

Nuts! I wanted to take that survey! I love surveys. Hee hee! Heck, I’m gonna take it anyway!

I read your blog almost every day.
I subscribe via blogroll which updates as soon as you post.
    I discovered you through a friend’s blogroll.
I will be in my 30′s 6 days from now. =)
The name Emily is quite obviously female.
You have yet to post something I don’t like to read, though the posts about your life and family are hands-down my favorites.
    I am a parent.
I work part-time outside of the home.
I have one child in public school and one child in private preschool.
I’m not going to answer the last question because this is a comment, not an email. =)

  10. Those are fun questions. I want to do a demographics type survey for 5M4B. I did one once, but it’s time for some more updated info.

I used surveymonkey as I recall and loved it. The stipulation was on time (I think but I could be wrong). It could only be out a month for the free version.

  11. I didn’t get to participate, but I loved Mary’s survey, too. I’m pretty sure I’ll copy hers. Which means I’ll copy both of yours. Is there a question about that? I might be in trouble…

  12. Olivia says:

i didn’t took that survey… but from the results i can say that i missed a good one :(

  13. Stephanie says:

Sorry I missed the opportunity to take your survey.
