According to Sally Fallon in Nourishing Traditions, lard is an excellent source of Vitamin D, especially if it&#039;s from pastured pigs that get lots of sunlight and eat a traditional diet.

I know my daughter, who lives in Boston, has to purchase lard on the &quot;ethnic foods&quot; isle in the grocery store.  It&#039;s sold next to grits and canned collards.
