What I Learned This Week

in What I Learned This Week

what-i-learned-this-week1You know what?  This carnival is getting old for me.  Is it getting old for you?  For the past few weeks now, I’ve sat down on Monday night (if I’m lucky; if I’m not so lucky, it’s Tuesday morning) and wracked my brain, trying to come up with something to post.

It’s not that I’m not learning anything.  I learn something every day.  But for some reason, trying to make that work into a post is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.  Every week it gets a bit more tedious.  And everywhere I look there’s another carnival.  Are you feeling deluged with blog carnivals?

I’ve kept it up because I love the commitment some of you have made to participating, and it reminds me to get around and read your blogs.  My hope when I started was to create a more intimate community among my readers.  So I ask you, do you feel that you are benefiting from the What I Learned This Week carnival?  Or are you getting tired of it?  Do you go around and read the posts of the participants?  Do you get a good amount of traffic and comments from it?

Spill it.  I wanna know.  I’ll let you know what I decide to do about it before next week rolls around.  But for now, I’ll ask you one more time…

What did YOU learn this week?  :-)

OK, I love it and I have many people that only come by because they like it too…that said if it is stale for you you should stp. I would be willing to take over if you were interested and then you could link in when you felt like it? I have my post ready but it is scheduled so I wont link up till morning.

I think (!) that I have participated every week since you started WILTW. I almost didn’t participate a few weeks ago, and I mentioned it in my post. One commenter told me that Tuesday was her favorite day at my blog! So, with that said, I will continue to post if you do. If not, then I completely understand. Seems the WILTW post is easy for me, as I keep a running list (NERD?) of things that happen during the week so that the post pretty much writes itself. Sad, I know… but so very true.

I am with both Julie and Terra. I like doing it, even if I can’t get a post up each week. I love writing the small lessons I learn, makes me feel like I accomplished something! lol

But, if you are feeling like it is not right for you right now, than you should stop or have Terra take over.

You can’t stop it! I am fairly new to the blog world and find myself thinking (everywhere I go) “I learned…”

My blog traffic goes up for WILTW, and I love looking through other people’s posts!

Last week I went on vacation and even thought about posting my vacation pictures under the WILTW carnival this week.

Did I convince you?

I read your post, but I don’t visit anyone else’s. And I’ve never participated. Like you wrote, there are tons of carnivals out there and on Tuesday I usually do Random Tuesday Thoughts at The Un Mom. Mostly because I think it is easier. But I do like to read your posts about your learning experience.

Um, I rarely read other people’s posts, but it does make me post sometimes when I can’t think of anything to write (though I don’t participate every week). I suppose I could take it or leave it either way…

Confession – I love it, and without it I might never post! I asked my readers last week if they liked these posts and everyone who expressed an opinion said they enjoyed them.

However if it is a pain for you, don’t worry, because it looks like a number of us would be prepared to carry it on (me included).

I love to visit the other participants and try to visit and comment on most of themevery week. I like that it is smallish so I feel that I do get to know a few more. Even if larger carnivals drive more traffic, there are so many blogs to visit and I don’t feel part of them in the same way.

But don’t do it if you don’t love it – life is too short and it’s YOUR blog :) (at least that is what we like to let you think! Lol!!)

I sadly admit that I haven’t participated in quite a few weeks now because my posts tend to come out differently. Like “you know you have a problem when” type of stuff! LOL. When I do participate I do read others and a few read and comment on mine but I’m not too worried about traffic as that’s not why I blog but I’m sure it’s good for some.
I’m like you though, when it came down to writing what I learned it all kind of seemed unimportant all of a sudden! LOL
Do what you feel you want to do and I’m sure everyone will be okay with it!
Hugs
Kim

I love your carnival! I sometimes have a tough time coming up with my posts, but most of the time I like taking a few minutes to “reflect” on my week when I normally wouldn’t. I’ve gotten in touch with some awesome bloggers through this carnival. And it totally increased traffic to my site. I do try to visit other posts, but usually only get to about ten others. I do try to visit different ones each week though. Even though I may not get around to it until Monday night. There are tons of carnivals out there, and every few months I feel like I revise which I participate in and the “structure” of my blog.

I love this meme! I would be willing to host it for a month as well, take turns like they do for Thankful Thursday! This makes me look back at my week as well, the bad, and the good!

I don’t participate every week, and some weeks I visit several blogs and other weeks I just don’t. So, I’m kind of indifferent to it I guess. I do see slightly more traffic when I participate, but not a huge increase, and that is not really why I do it. So do what you want!

I love the wiltw carnival. It’s a nice way to wrap up a week in one post. It’s your blog so do what you feel is best. I’d probably continue writing these types of posts

I love it, too! But totally understand if you want to pass on it.

I do hop around to other posts – not all but a couple each week. I get a good amount of traffic from it, too.

I do not do it every week, but I read everyone’s post every week. I look forward to sitting down and reading new blogs that I may never have found without this carnival. Also, it has made me think about things in my own life over the past week…things I may have forgotten about if it weren’t for this carnival.

Maybe have a few other bloggers guest host it for a month…to give yourself a break? Just an idea.

I’ve felt the square peg/round hole feeling EVERY TIME I see this blog meme, and that’s why I never post. I learn stuff all the time — goodness, I’m teaching school every day! But trying to consolidate it into a sentence beginning, “This week I learned that…” is just too hard!

I learned that, no matter how embarrassed you are about something your five year old shares with oh let’s say a table of ten people, he’s still just an adorable innocent. Just posted the full story on my blog today.

As for the WILTW fest, I read yours regularly… not so much anyone else. But hey, take a break from it for a while and, if you want to go back to it, do so. After all, isn’t blogging about what you WANT to write about… not what you feel obligated to write about. :)

I do feel the blog world is getting a bit “diluted” with carnivals. I rarely participate.

That said, I’ll keep reading your musings regardless. You always make me laugh. :)
