Yes, I know it’s Thanksgiving weekend and yes, I know it’s Black Friday (and WHY would anyone go out shopping on Black Friday, I really don’t get it) but I was inspired by an email I got from JCrew this week, promoting their “tees with all the trimmings.” You see, I love a t-shirt. But let’s face it. T-shirts tend to be b-o-o-o-ring. But not these embellished tees. These have style! Check ‘em out.
I love how they have this floral tee paired with a simple black skirt and then a casual scarf thrown on for good measure. Now that’s a tee with style.
Or if you’re not into a print, how about this Beaded Marrakesh tissue tee? This is the one that was pictured in the ad that caught my eye.
Oooh and look at this Jersey Tee with Rosettes.
I know, those are all kinda spendy. But rest assured, there are embellished tees at every price point. Ann Taylor LOFT has a nice selection. Target even has some.
And here are a few steals and deals I have found in my email inbox this weekend.

Not shopping at all
I’m not shopping today. The last time I tried to get a deal, I nearly ended up in the middle of fisticuffs over an item. THAT’S NOT what this holiday season is about! I have refused to have anything to do with Black Friday shopping since.
I actually took two of my daughters out for a couple of hours this morning (between 10 and 12), and I’m so glad I did! I got some amazing deals!
- $10 girls’ jeans at Old Navy
- 5 rolls of wrapping paper for $4 at JoAnne Fabrics (they were .99 each plus I had a 20% off coupon).
- 2 air soft guns for my nephews (regularly $25 each) for $10 each at MC Sports
- a very cute necklace and matching earrings buy-one-get-one-1/2-off PLUS an extra 20% before noon today for a niece (I think it was about $18 total).
- Sebastian hair spray for me (!) at Ulta for $5.99.
So we didn’t go to get anything specific, but found some fun deals. And there really were no crowds.
But here’s the best deal of the day: my daughter was trying on a pair of jeans at Old Navy (all women’s jeans were $15 this morning) and she found a $20 bill in the pocket! We talked to a manager about it, and she just said, “I guess it’s your lucky day!” So my daughter got free jeans and $5 to spare. We’ve been laughing about it all day.
We actually went to Chicago for the day. The traffic was not bad getting in or out but there were a ton of people on Michigan Ave (the magnificent mile). I got some really cute shoes from Coach at an amazing price and my daughter got her Itouch from the Apple store at a better price than any around here (although Walmart & Toysrus had them with a $50 gift card if you were lucky enough to be in the store before they ran out).
I just had my dinner of Snickers cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. It was the best thing we did all day :}
Next year, we will be staying home!!
My sister-in-law and I always go shopping on Black Friday morning – we go together and talk one of our husbands (or both of them…) into watching the kids. It’s a fun girls day out and we usually end up with some great deals – we never stand in line to get into a store and we don’t even bother with WalMart. Target usually isn’t too bad – they seem to be better organized!
My best deal of the day? The GPS I’ve been eyeing for the past few months – on sale for $100 – that’s $180 off
.
I was on a plane, coming home from Tokyo. My husband and I both work for a school district, so we had the whole week off. Because of the time difference, I got home in time to do some late afternoon Black Friday shopping with my mom. But, I was so jet lagged I’m not even sure what I bought!
NICE tees! I’m going to have to include a couple for myself on my Christmas shopping list!
I didn’t spend a penny on Black Friday. Not a-one.
I stayed in, which was actually quite nice.
