What I Learned This Week

by Jo-Lynne on November 2, 2009

in What I Learned This Week

what-i-learned-this-week1. This is the sorta week for a list.

2. Being a Phillies fan is painful at times.

3. Laundry has a way of multiplying.

4. The cable company will eventually realize you are getting channels you are not paying for and will cut you off.  (Yes, we notified them originally; they just now finally figured it out.)

5. It’s a real bummer to get cut off from some of your favorite shows mid-season.  **Project Runway, ahem.**

6. Fancast is really cool, but I wish they had Project Runway and The Food Network shows.

7. When your friends are hurting, you hurt too.

8. Snickers bars don’t last long in a house not accustomed to having sweets around.

9. There is no substitute for hand-kneading bread dough.

10. If I continue to hand-knead my bread dough, I should have some amazing guns by Christmastime.

What did YOU learn this week?

I think every week is a “list week”. And laundry does. It multiplies. I swear. Geesh!

Funny how laundry does that at my place too. I thought it was something in the air around here. By the way, I’m still laughing at yesterday’s New Math post!!! I even called McDaddy and had him stop by too!!!

Well we will both have ‘guns’ to sport this Christmas, you from kneading dough and me from hand straining cooked down apples and plums.

And I agree this is very much a list week. Although for me here lately it is always a list week.

Every time the Comcast van stops near our house, we’re afraid they’ll figure out how lazy they’ve been. We’ve had the cable “deal” for four years…and yes, they were contacted about it when the switch in payment happened, they just never switched the channels. Sooo nice. You mean you don’t use your Kitchenaid to knead dough? I’m such a kneading failure; I depend on the machines so I don’t wreck my bread! :)

I loved your list my friend. And snickers don’t last long around here either! Usually because I ate them!

You can watch Project Runway on the Lifetime Web site. Sadly, I can’t find anyplace to watch Top Chef online.

That is a lot to learn in a week. Take a break and eat a snickers.

Being a Phillies fan is bad for my heart! Lifetime is not part of the basic cable package? I had no idea…

I agree on the laundry, friends & Snickers. But most of all, I am sorry, so terribly sorry, that it is so hard to be a Phillies fan. However, it will be MUCH harder for you tomorrow night when the Yankees take the title away and become champions for the 27th time. We will definitely be enjoying our parade here in NY next week! Okay, enough smack talk. Thanks for the list. It might be what I needed to get my butt in gear and put a post up on my blog.

Now, now. Let’s not get cocky. The Phils have the best road record, I do believe??? ;-)

Oh, I would be sad if I didn’t get to watch Project Runway. Thankfully, Lifetime is on our package. And yes to the laundry.

I am a HUGE Red Sox fan and a Yankee hater – GO PHILLIES!! I was so excited last night when they won!

I love this list. Great post. I understand how it is with the cable company. We called and called because the bill was wrong. Then we gave up. They finally figured it out and tried to recharge us. Not happening.

I hate laundry and it builds fast. I’m following you now.

I understand your pain regarding #2. Being a west coaster, I’m a die hard Oakland A’s fan. That being said, while I’m not a Phillies fan, I hate the Yankees with a vengance. I’ve been cheering right along with you this whole post-season. Let’s hope for 2 more wins in New York!

What I learned this week: It is nearly impossible to explain the time change to a 3 year old. It is almost pitch black now when I pick him up at 6:00.

Him: “MOMMY!! WHERE DID THE SUN GO??”

Me: Well, we had to turn the clocks back and now it gets dark earlier… [insert more mumbo jumbo that he did not understand here]

Him: What?

Me: The sun is hiding. Eat your goldfish.

Better late than never (I hope!)

My blog post is up with some “real American” sweets, and a Fall-fest party.

Also linking up to your Trick or Treating carnival post.

I’ve never tried baking my own bread (except pumpkin bread). I may have to give it a shot sometime.

We watch Food Network shows FREE on HULU. Hubby was just watching a bunch of Paula Dean episodes the other night. You might be able to find Project Runway there as well. =)
