Yesterday morning I met my good friend Sarah at the local mall for some cawfee-tawk and shopping. Specifically, she wanted to know if it is possible to own just one pair of boots.
Now, y’all.
I like to shop, and I fancy myself somewhat of a fashionista, but ONE PAIR OF BOOTS? I didn’t know if it could be done.
I just went upstairs to count, and I own 8 pair of boots. EIGHT. And I’m not talking about boots I’ve had since high school. I’m also not talking about snow boots or any other type of practical necessity. I’m talking purely fashionable additions to my current wardrobe. I have knee-high black dressy flats, knee-high brown dressy flats, brown casual flats of the Ugg variety, cognac-colored 3/4-high boots with a modest heel, black dressy ankle boots with a low heel, black dressy ankle boots with a high heel, brown dressy ankle boots with a high heel, and knee-high dressy black boots with a high heel. And yes, I wear them all.
So when Sarah wanted me to help her find ONE pair of boots to wear under jeans, over jeans, under slacks, and with dresses and skirts, I started to break out into hives. Oh the pressure.
But you know what? We did it. And as she was making her purchase, a lightbulb went off.
I bet there are other people out there who might want to find one boot that would serve all those purposes. After all, not everyone wants to have EIGHT PAIR OF BOOTS in their closet. THIS would make a PERFECT Fashion Friday post.
Of course, I can’t find a link to the exact boot online. We found them at the Aldo Outlet Store. I really like Aldo shoes and boots; I have 2 pairs of their boots and a couple pairs of their ballet flats. They are comfortable, stylish, and they wear well.
The boots she found were black leather, almost knee-high, with a single buckle near the top. They are black, and they have about a 1-1/2 or 2-inch heel. It’s not a chunky heel or a skinny heel; it’s quite versatile and modern. They look somewhat like this one, but not scrunchy, a little bit taller, and not quite that high of a heel. Okay, so they don’t look much like this one at all, lol. But you get the idea. Maybe? I hope.
They will fit under her bootleg jeans and slacks, or she can wear them over her straight-leg or skinny jeans, if I can convince her to get a pair. And she can also wear them with knee-length or longish dresses and skirts.
And there you have it. One pair of boots… infinite possibilities!

I like boots but because I spend a large amount of my time walking over rough surfaces, heels are not practical. They can be fatal! Do you have something for those of us who need to live without heels?
Oh how I miss my boots. I have not had the money to replace my darlings and I sorely miss them. I was and still am a die hard boot fan, to the point that I could wear them for a 12 hour retail shift as a book store manager. A job that requires you to be on your feet nearly the whole time you are at work. But alas I had to give them a fond farewell during my last pregnancy when my calfs decided they would no longer even think of fitting into the gorgeous black leather.
Cathryn, I have these. I’m not sure I’d wear them under pants, b/c they might be bulky, but I love wearing them with knee-length dresses/skirts and over my skinny jeans.

I have to say that I have fallen in love with the idea of that brown color that’s not chocolate or tan, but sort of burnt brown looking. It looks so great with black, brown, pink, or neon green. Ok…not sure about neon green. I don’t think I’ve had that color in my wardrobe since the day of keds, at which time I had socks of EVERY single color. I don’t think I wouldn’t mix and match hot pink with that rockin’ neon green!
i’m sorry. just one pair of boots??? i think i have 5. and totally could use a few more
my fashion friday is about what is ‘festive attire’

Oh great. Thanks for telling me I can actually live with ONE pair of boots.
Timely post! I’ve been on the search for ONE pair of boots that is pretty versatile (not that I wander much from my good ‘ole jeans, but just in case…)
The heel is too much for me though – maybe in another fashion friday post you could find some lower to no heel boots that are just as versatile? I’m not so great at fashion myself, hence the jeans and tshirts. I’m always referencing your fashion posts when I go clothes shopping LOL
It just so happens that I need a pair of black boots that will be as versatile as Sarah’s. Thanks for shopping!!
i just have one pair of boots i’m sad to say. i’d like one more pair in brown but i hate to shop. and i hate to shop for shoes most of all.
I have one pair of brown and one pair of black boots. They are exactly the same. Knee-high with a heel. They work for pretty much anything, but I would like flat boots for running errands and such. But that is not in the budget at all, and while I could tell Husband that is what I want for Christmas, I like surprises more.
I am NOT a shoe person, and if you are counting Uggish boots, I have at least 5 pair myself.
However, my black and brown tall versatile boots have almost had it, so I need new ones. But I do use those as a sort of versatile pair — similar to what Sarah ended up with.
I do think that she needs TWO though — one black and one brown.
OMG! I have a very similar pair of boots and they are my most comfortable pair of boots. They even keep my feet warm in the snow although I would not recommend wearing them to walk on ice.
I actually own 3 pair of boots (two black and one snow boots) and am in the market for a pair of brown boots, probably mid calf but would consider knee or ankle with a low heel or even a flat, comfort is also very important, any suggestions?
I LOVE that pair of boots! I only have one pair, but I’d have a dozen if I could.

Thank you Jo-Lynne for the selection! I can do those! They would look really great under some of my knee-length skirts! Or the denim skirt. Yes!
I actually have one pair of tall boots, two pairs of ankle boots, and two pair of hiking boots. But you can’t wear ankle boots or hiking boots very well with a skirt!
Lovin’ my new boots!! Thanks for the help!
