Holiday Gift Ideas: For the Entertainer

French Press. I admit, I am putting this on here because *I* want this.  The French press supposedly makes The Best Coffee Ever.  I had one back in the day, but it was a small glass one, and I eventually got rid of it because it didn’t keep my coffee hot long enough, and it didn’t make much.  But this Thermal French Press from Frieling will keep my coffee warm and holds 8 cups.  Plus, it’s just so purty!

And if you really want to spoil her, get her the matching creamer and sugar bowl.  I actually have this set, it was a gift from my brother a few years ago, and I love it.  I use it every day.

Stemless Wine Glasses. I don’t have any of these, but I love drinking out of them at my friends’ houses.  They are less fussy than the traditional stemmed ones, and there’s not as much chance of knocking one over when talking with one’s hands, and yes, I do have much experience with this phenomenon.  #notinebriatedjustclumsy

These red wine glasses from Riedel in an elegant light weight crystal are the perfect gift for the wine connoisseur in your life.  And if you really want to spoil them, get the white ones too.

Wine Saver Gift Set.  I am very picky about my wine being fresh.  If the bottle has been opened for more than 48 hours, it gets dumped.  This vacuum pump and its accompanying stoppers and pourers claims to keep your wine fresh for 7 to 10 days.  Frankly, I’ve never had a problem using up a bottle of wine in a timely fashion, but if you know someone who likes to prolong the happiness all week long, this would be the perfect gift.

Decorative Measuring Cups. I went on to Pier One Imports to see if I could find the measuring cups I won from Kathy, and I couldn’t find them, but I found these Retro Measuring Cups.  Aren’t they just too cute for words?

Serving Dishes.  Any hostess with the mostest knows you can never have enough trays.  These Emma Serving Platters from Pottery Barn caught my eye.  I just love the beaded detail, and the colors are so warm and homey.

Barefoot Contessa Parties. I highly recommend any of the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks.   I believe I have all but her newest.  But her book on Parties is the perfect gift for the entertainer because she gives lots of helpful tips (with pictures!) on how to set a table, how to present a platter, and all kinds of help on being a gracious hostess.

I know that you love (being sarcastic) Walmart just as much as I do, so I thought I’d let you know that I just bought a set of four really cute bowls in their holiday section. They are off white with a beading detail a lot like the Pottery Barn platters that you mentioned. They have the platter that matches, along with dinner & salad plates and mugs. I wanted/ needed a few extra bowls for entertaining and thought these would be nice since they are neutral and my three year old will probably break them. Priced at $5 I can afford to replace them.

I love the wine glasses. I’ve never seen those kind before. All I have are mismatched ones ;-)

Love it all! I would like to have some of those stemless wine glasses. I saw them somewhere and thought they would be really cool to drink out of.

I’m still just shocked at how young Ina looks!

I’ve never tasted coffee from a french press but have always heard how perfectly it makes it. I l big puffy heart love my Keurig one cup maker. Fresh coffee in an instant.

Those beaded dishes are beautiful but I have had to put myself on dish restrictions. Or maybe my hubs did that.

I’m loving the platters too. And the Ina book; I’m intrigued!

As for the stemless wine glasses, eh, don’t bother. So says the fancy sommelier who schooled us, er, I mean instructed us on the ins and outs of wine consumption during our cruise a couple of months ago. He says that you should give stemless glasses only to people you don’t like. He really did say that. Apparently the heat from your hand does something to mess with the complicated structure of the wine. Ruins it. At least that’s what I’m told.

That Wine Saver Gift Set would suit me perfectly. I, like you, prefer my wine to be fresh and sparkling.

I LOVE those measuring cups. Too cute. The french press is good too – I have a tiny one – wouldn’t mind one of those bigger ones (I hope DH is reading over my shoulder)

Must say, I’m not a fan of the stemless wine glasses. There is something nice about the ritual of enjoying a drink in a proper wine glass… I even used to have soda water or OJ in a traditional wine glass when I was pregnant. It makes any drink feel special!

If you get the cheaper version of the wine glasses (at Kohls, for instance), they are great for everyday – you can just run them in the dishwasher! (crystal should be handwashed)
