Snowy Day Family Fun

What do you do when you’re snowbound?  Well, make cookies, of course!

(Um.  WHAT is that vacuum cleaner doing in my Norman Rockwell moment?)

And then eat the evidence.

At least C stops to admire her creation before popping it in her mouth.

And guess who’s the third child?  Doesn’t she look so proud of herself?

There are even a few left to enjoy tomorrow.

You may notice a plethora of circles and very few recognizable objects.  We couldn’t find our cookie cutters.  After looking high and low and lower still, we gave up and decided to use a biscuit cutter.  I even cut a few free-hand.  The trees are a little funky, but I make a pretty mean candy cane, if I do say so myself.

The recipe can be found here.  This year I used coconut oil in place of Crisco, and they turned out great!

Very nice! I love sugar cookies. And you did a fabulous job doing that free hand. I could have totally lent you our cookie cutters, we have what seems to be hundreds. I think they multiply like rabbits every year! LOL

The cookies look great! I also loved C’s sweatshirt of Ocean City, NJ…that’s where I grew up! Actually, I’m from Egg Harbor Township but spent most of my time in OC. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

  10. Oh, Jo-Lynn, how you tease! I’ve not had one sugary thing (not even fruit) since the 30th of November! It was WICKED hard in the beginning, but has gotten a lot easier. But still, those looks so friggin’ good.

    :–)

We recently made sugar cookies too. My 3-year-old was oh-so-sad when we rolled out the last bit of dough. She had so much fun with those cookie cutters! :)
