American Idol Recap

idol-talkYou know what really pickles my relish?  When I carefully set my DVR to record a show, and I go to watch said show, and the show is not available.  Sometimes I really HATE technology.

So I only watched the second half of the L.A. auditions.

Los Angeles Auditions:

Andrew Garcia’s story drew me in, but I can’t say I loved his voice.  The judges are all about him, though, so what do I know?

Tasha is interesting.  I like her voice.

And that’s about it for me.  Hoping for more to talk about at the Dallas auditions.

Dallas Auditions:

Wow, Lloyd Thomas.  What a voice.

Kimberly Carver was awesome.  I don’t know WHAT was up Simon’s behind.

And truthfully, no one else really stood out to me.  What about you?  Was anyone really memorable in L.A. or Dallas?

That bugs me, too. I went in and reset the DVR last night because the State of the Union address was on, just to make sure it didn’t cut off half of what I wanted to see (which, of course, was Idol! ha ha).

There have been people that have stood out, but frankly, I can’t remember most of their names. So many people got through Wed night that it’s a blur to me.

I thought Neil Patrick Harris was a good judge, how about you?

  2. Jamie says:

None of the chicks really did it for me (LOL) but I did like Andrew and Lloyd. I did like Neil Patrick Harris. Katy Perry was good, too, but YOWZA the potential cat fightage.

  3. I like a few but no one’s name is really standing out to me. Some of the stories got to me but I try not to let that color my opinion on their singing.

btw … in case you’re bored I tagged you in my blog post “Seven” Sorry.

  4. I watched Tuesday. I spent a precious hour of my time being manipulated by whomever produces/directs that show. From over 10,000 applicants in LA, surely — SURELY — there were more than a couple of good singers! But what do we get to see? The most weird, bizarre, repulsive performers they can find, b/c they think this is what will keep the viewer coming back. Well, not this viewer. I wanted to see Maddy Curtis sing again, but I won’t be tuning in again for a while. It’s not worth all those hours.

I hear ya. I generally hate the audition round. I thought this year was better, but the last few shows have been real yawners. Cant WAIT for hollywood week.

  5. My site link is to my post where I basically digressed into my deep abiding love for Neil Patrick Harris. He was great. Joe Jonas was completely without personality. If I heard “Yeah” one more time, I was going to throttle him. Of course, my daughter are also tired of hearing “100% or a million % yes” and “the best I’ve heard today/on this tour/in this town.”

I haven’t watched Dallas, yet. Looking forward to that. I’m looking forward to the guest judges on that one. I have to say I was NOT a big fan of Katy Perry as a judge in LA. She was just confrontational. I really think only Simon can get away with being that way.

  7. Dawn says:

Okay, so Mary Kathryn and Jennifer are channeling me. NPH is stellar. I love his personality. Joe Jonas was a total doofus, but you can kind of understand why the teenie boppers swoon. And yes, 100% one billion % YES makes me want to vomit. I also feel manipulated, but because of the lack of any other decent programming, I will watch. And besides, don’t we all get a little thrill when he says….”THIS…..is American Idol!”

  8. No one stood out to me. I just enjoy watching all the train wrecks!

  9. Ashley says:

This week was only “so-so” on Idol… I have to wonder if they didn’t show us the “best” from Dallas, though, since it looked like a LOT of people were getting Golden Tickets. I’m definitely ready for Hollywood week to start!
