TGIF! This week I’m especially thankful it’s almost Friday because tomorrow afternoon I hop a train to NYC and for 24 blessed hours I do not have to cut anyone’s meat (but my own) or wipe anyone’s snot (but my own) and I get to pretend to be a grown up and wear clothes without any stains on them (except my own) and maybe even some cute shoes. And even better than all that, I get to hang out with her and her and her and her and her and her. I. can’t. wait.
Speaking of cute shoes, this morning I was getting ready for the day and putting on my sneakers in hopes that I would find the motivation to run later, and my 4-year-old said to me, “I don’t like those shoes. They aren’t cute. But you only wear cute shoes when you’re going to New York, right?”
Sadly, that pretty much sums it up.
But before I go pack, let’s talk summer sandals. It’s been so nice here in Philly this week that I actually had to climb up into the attic one morning and pull down some warm weather clothes and shoes, and that is when I realized that my sandal/flip flop wardrobe is sorely lacking. Everything I have is, well, OLD. And worn looking. Fortunately for me, Dansko reached out to me a few weeks ago and asked if I’d like to try a pair of shoes from their new spring 2010 line.
Well, twist my arm, why don’t ya.
After perusing the site and considering the likes of these (the Mila)
and these (the Serena),
I decided on these — the Carmen Capri in sangria.
I wore them all day today, and I can honestly say, this is THE most comfortable flip flop I’ve ever worn. The foot bed is AMAZING. It has a contoured PU bottom and an EVA insert, which is the magic that makes them so incredibly comfy and supportive. And the adjustable fore-strap keeps them from sliding or flopping too much.
Aesthetically, I think I’d like them better without that strap, but from a comfort POV, it’s perfect. I have kind of flat, slim feet or something, and while I wear flip flops almost exclusively during the warmer months, they do tend to, well, flop a lot on my foot. I mean, I know they’re supposed to flip and flop. But these? They stay put.
I’m not surprised how comfortable and supportive these are, as I was a Dansko fan before I received these sandals (in fact, that’s why they reached out to me, so keep writing about brands you love! You never know when you might get a fun surprise like this in your inbox.) But I really didn’t know a flip flop could have this much support. If you’re on your feet a lot but don’t want a clunky shoe, Dansko is your brand.

Until I saw this post, I was pretty sure that I didn’t like Dansko’s – but those sandals are great! I really like the pair that you chose – i also like the second pair that you looked at, but I couldn’t find them on their website. I’m a size 8.5 – but I don’t know what color I’d want. ooh, I love my Danskos. I have the old school brown leather chef’s clogs and they are the best. I don’t mind crowing about them.

I love the Mila, the first ones you put up there, but in black or chocolate brown. They look really comfortable for running around after kids outside!
I love the Sigrid Sausalito in black. I also totally love the second pair you liked but I, like Rachel, couldn’t find them on the website. I’m a size 9 1/2 and these look they would be a great way to welcome in summer. Thank heavens it is finally getting warmer!!!

I’ve never had a pair of Dansko’s but I’ve heard good things about them! I like the Brianna best, in black. I’m usually a size 6, but I don’t know about their European sizing. I’m worried that a 36 would be too small and a 37 too big. Maybe I’ll win and get to find out!

I think I’d have to replace my plain old clogs with a new pair – black Narrow Pro, size 40, I think, but I’d have to double check the size. Please don’t hold me to it, though. The Carmen Capris are super cute – and I could wear them sooner!
Oh my goodness. If my feet could smile they would have. I am loving those flip flops. So cute. I went over there and out of all of them THOSE are my favorite but in the Espresso color. I’m drooling over here. Have mercy. I wear flip flops ALL THE TIME. Even in the house because we have terrazzo floors.

Dansko’s are the best! I own several pair. But I do not have the Serena…and although the color is hard to pick…I think i’d go with the Java waxy leather, because when all else fails, have coffee.

i loved the kiera acadia in latte nubuck, size 9.5/41. they are a nice neutral color and would end up being the shoes i keep by the backdoor to wear when i run out for something quick. with the weather being as flukey as it is, it would give me bit more coverage without being a “shoe” shoe, if you know what i mean.

I love Danskos…I like the newer ones because I try to stay away from shoes that are too clunky. I’m clumsy enough as it is…I don’t need the, “help” from the bulky shoes! I saw them at a local shoe store but did not try them on because my toes had not seen the light of day for months and I was too embarrassed to let anyone see them.

I just LOVE the Serena and while I should opt for a practical color like the Brandy, I just adore the Turquoise!! I’m a size 9 after 3 kiddos!
Carmen Capri in Stone size 40. I have very narrow feet and am curious to know if these would fit me or be too wide.

My first visit to your blog & what great timing! I’ve been wanting to try a pair of these, since because of a foot problem I can no longer wear flip flops. So other than my Lands End clogs, I don’t know what I’m going to wear this summer. I love the Sela in the Toffee Crinkle patent, size 7.

I have been wearing the clogs now for three winters and when April rolls around and they go back with the winter clothes my feet begin screaming for them to come back. Sandals are just what my summer feet need. My pick would be Surraya size 38 in black patent.

But I’d probably choose the Adele. The coral color is perfect for spring, but I think I’d still stick with classic black in size 7.

I LOVE the Serena in Navy. Once I get a comfortable pair of sandals, I wear them every day in summer. These would go perfectly with a jean skirt or jean jumper. I wear a size 7.

I like the Meg, brown, size 8 (38). I practically live in sandals all year long so comfort is very important to me.
