I used to absolutely detest vacuuming. I know, it’s probably not high up on anyone’s list of favorite things to do, but when it comes to housework, it was always my least favorite chore. I would curse the heavy canister that banged into my walls and woodwork, and then I’d charge around the corner in frustration to untangle the hose when it got hung as I moved into the next room. Then after the gruesome chore was completed, I’d need a shower to recover from the workout I’d endured for the good of the household.
Then I got an Oreck. My mom got hers first, and she absolutely loved it, so when we moved to our current house, my husband and I cashed in our AmEx points and ordered an one for ourselves. This was four years ago, and I am still a 100% satisfied Oreck customer.
The Oreck totally changed my attitude about vacuuming. Before I got an Oreck, I had both a canister (there’s no comparison between an upright and a canister when it comes to ease of use) and an upright (which must have weighed three times as much as the Oreck), and both gave me a total-body workout.
The Oreck, true to its claims, is the lightest vacuum I’ve ever operated. It hardly takes any effort to push it around, and I can zip through the entire house in about 15 minutes. It’s even easy to use on the stairs. Plus, it’s totally easy to take apart if it gets jammed. My husband, who criticizes the design of just about everything he takes apart, has only good things to say about the simplicity of the Oreck’s design. Suffice it to say, we are customers for life.
A few weeks ago I was contacted about the newest generation of Orecks — the Oreck Platinum Pilot.
What’s the big deal about the Oreck Platinum Pilot? This vacuum has a ball-joint and pivot connection that makes vacuuming around furniture a breeze. This thing turns on a dime, and the pivoting action makes it easier to move the bag and handle out of the way when you’re vacuuming in tight spaces. The first thing I noticed, though, when I turned it on for the first time, was how easily the self-propelled mechanism works. I vacuumed yesterday with my old cheap-o and I’m always disappointed with all that it leaves behind. Not to mention the fact that it does not allow for easing cleaning of the stairs. I love that this one comes with a lightweight handheld just for that!

We are currently using a vacuum cleaner that was sitting by the curb marked “FREE”! It actually does pick up stuff if you run it back and forth a few times! We are planning to purchase a “GOOD” vacuum soon, but winning one would be even better! -

We have two dogs (the largest is about 70 pounds and is a beautiful Akita mix but he is very hairy) and two kids. Our vacuum cleaner is at least 5 years old. We could really use a new one! I’ve heard great things about Oreck, too.

I blew my knee out a few years ago and without a replacement, I’m stuck with a bum knee. Running the vac is a serious chore as I can’t walk far or stand for too long. Right when I taught my daughter how to do it for me, allergy tests came back saying she was to be out of the house when I vacuum. Sweet, huh? Anyway, I get it done ok myself but what I have the hardest time with is our staircase and moving the end tables and such around to get under/around them. The Oreck sounds like a breeze and would so trump my cannister vac!

I can’t keep a vacuum more than a year… even if it marked “Pet Fur.” I use it so muchI burned the motor and break a sweat at the time. Guess that’s what happens when you have a husky…. there is always fur and this time of year is the worst.

Oh my how I would love a new vaccum. Ours has just about seen its last days. With me shedding like I am Cousin It and the play dough and other weird objects that end up mashed into my carpet it has seen better times.

LOVE your blog. And I would love to win a vacuum cleaner because my husband does all the vacuuming in our house b/c of my hatred of how heavy ours is and how much dust it kicks up. I’m not convinced our “HEPA” filter is working. So a new Oreck would do the trick and I would do the vacuuming myself. Plus, I’m a high school teacher. (Bless me.) This would be a major blessing to me to win a new vacuum. Mine is not working at the moment. My father has changed the switch in it twice this past year and now I don’t know if that is the problem or not. The poor thing is probably about 12 years old. I would love an oreck because I inherited my moms really old one when she moved-without the hand-held one. Even though the upright is old it is still the best one we have ever owned!
Oh my goodness – I have the oldest vacuum cleaner ever. I have to clean before I take my shower in the morning because it involves such a workout! i would love to have an oreck because my current vacuum sucks! well, it sucks because it DOESN’T suck! i end up using a stiff brush to sweep the junk away from the baseboards so my stupid dirt devil will pick it up.

I would love to win the Oreck Platinum Pilot! It sounds like it would make vacuuming much easier. We have a small house with lots of carpet that seems to get dirty easily. The HEPA filter and self sealing bag are great features since my children and I have allergies.

I was just telling DH the other day that my vac (dyson) is so heavy to lug up & down the stairs that I need a lighter one before I can’t lift it anymore or he’ll be vacuuming. Soooo for hubby’s sake I hope I win!

Girl – with five kids and the inside dog, not to mention the 500 lb upright I currently own…a new vacuum in on our needs list..not just a want.
I would love to wine this vacuum. We have 2 dogs and a cat and have to vaccum constantly to keep up with the hairballs floating around the house and I just absolutely hate our vacuum! That sounds great. I’ve always wondered about them. I’d like a new vacuum because mine stinks! Literally, every time turn it on I smell dog hair coming out of the bag and it’s a pain to drag around. It’s a canister vacuum and I’m always bumping my shin with the canister and getting angry.

I also hate vacuuming, and I even happen to love my vacuum. Well, until it broke and they replaced it with CRAP. I’m using my old beloved one all covered in electrical tape, hoping it hangs on. We grew up with Oreck’s and had two hand-me-downs when we were first married. They are pretty great… although I wish they had some of those attachments on board the main unit.

I would love a new vacuum! The electrical tape that is covering the exposed wire on the power cord is coming undone; someone who shall remain nameless vacuumed up something funky and now it smells no matter how many times I change the bag; and it keeps dropping pieces and I’m still trying to figure out how vital they are to the vacuum. Besides, if I had a lighter vacuum, I could enlist the help of my boys with some cleaning!

I have a 4 month old baby and two dogs, an Australian Shepard and a Labrador. I vacuum every morning and it’s still not enough. with the dirt the dogs bring in and the never ending shedding of hair I am dreading it when she crawls.

I would love to get a new vacuum since my son has asthma and we all have allergies! Also, having 2 long hair cats and 2 dogs that shed all year long, this would be great! I love the colors of the new Oreck too! My current vacuum is a Hoover bagless windtunnel canister and I’m not too happy with it. The filter gets clogged so quickly from the dirt and pet hair, therefore, losing a ton of suction.

I would LOVE a new vacuum! I am a single mom of 2 boys, a Catahoula rat terrier dog, a cat and we are taking care of the school’s pet rabbit and bearded dragon. I have a dog who sheds CONSTANTLY. Seriously, I sweep the kitchen floor and within minutes its covered with dog hair again. Not to mention, all the other areas of the house he visits. It totally sceeves me out because I have two children and a touch of OCD
I started breaking out the good, old-fashioned broom to keep up with he kitchen because the vacuum is so cumbersome. Would love to win a GOOD vacuum that would allow me to quickly take care of the whole house!

I am getting back into cleaning houses after quiting my job to stay home with my kids more and cleaning gives me more of a flexible schedule. I have an older model Oreck and while I love how it works, it does not do very well getting around corners. Plus I have asthma, and the model I have does not take the HEPA bags. So I’d love to win this NEW model that would both handle better and be more allergy/asthma-friendly.

I’d love to win a lightweight ORECK vaccum and really need a new one – mine is 10 years old. I have a very messy husband and three kids to clean up after – my aging dinosaur vacuum just can’t keep up!
At the beginning of May I decided my kids needed me more than I needed a paycheck. So now I spend time with them and in my spare time I search the internet for wonderful sites like yours to help me save money, be a better housewife, and be a better wife and Mommy. I print coupons, sign up for free samples, and enter for giveaways. I do everything I can to help my family to live with the decision of me not having a paycheck. Since leaving work I discovered our vacuum cleaner is no longer sucking. May have something to do with the fact that it was bought a few years ago 3 days after Christmas when the budget did not allow for such a fancy appliance purchase. Now I am in the same boat. I priced Oreck, Riccar, and Dyson. I would love to have a good vacuum that made my life easier and FUN. Unfortunately, because of the lower income, it is just not in the cards. My vaccuum is on its last leg (or should I say, wheel??)!! We just replaced the plug, when you pull the cord out it does not stay out…you just plug it in and as you pull the vaccuum around the room the cord pulls out…it constantly smells like its burning, and it makes funny noises. Hubby was unemployed for 6 months, and we are still trying to pull ourselves above water from that stint, so purchasing a new vaccuum is totally out of the question…not when there are diapers and shoes and other child necessities to be bought!
OMG! This vaccum looks great! It would look perfect in my house! I recently had my 3 yr old allergy tested and he is allergic to my dog’s so I have to vaccum atleast 2 times a day to keep up with the dander and hair so my little guy does not get the itchys. oh how generous! when we got married, five years ago, i was given a canister vacuum at my bridal shower. at first i loved it. then the constant banging into stuff started driving me nuts, and now it’s a dreaded chore trying to heave that thing around the obstacle course that is our small home. not to mention my one year old tries to chase after it while i’m banging into stuff and muttering unkind things under my breath. oh how fun it would be to have a vacuum that was all one piece!
I LOVE Oreck! I bought one about 2 years ago and it is great. With two cats and two dogs, I do a TON of vacuuming. Carrying it up and down the stairs is a breeze. I would love this new one that has a pivot handle to get around furniture and all the toys my kids have!
Wow- I would LOVE this vacuum, and it sounds like my husband would too. He bought the last vacuum (a Kirby) and it is so heavy. I actually refuse to use it (and that was almost 7 years ago!!). I love the idea of the HEPA filteration, and something lightweight and easy to use. My almost 5 year old loves to help with household chores and I think this would be easy for her to ‘help’ with too!

My momma gave us the vaccuum she used in her classroom when we first moved back to the states. (Lord only knows what residual dirt was in that – BUT we use it faithfully!!!) Anyway, that was 2 kiddos ago… Now we have our yellow lab (who sheds a TON in NC!!!) and 3 kiddos. I would LOVE a new vaccuum… how do you spell that word anyway?!?!
I’d love one. I need one. My current upright had a hepa filter. We bought it in Dec. of ’08. “Lovely” Sears discontinued it in February. They discontinued the filter then, too. Thus. Without a functional upright.
Housework would be a lot more fun with a nice new vacuum my sons could use. They are 13 and 11. My mission this summer: Teach them all they need to know to survive on their own. Then we can spend the next 5 – 7 years perfecting!

Wow!! A new lightweight vac would be great! I’m a homeschooling mom that has two F5 tornadoes that run through 24-7! Not to mention a very hairy golden retriever! Needless to say, my vac needs to be like a 3rd arm for me and the one I have now is too heavy to use on the stairs very easily!
I have a Rainbow canister vacuum. That should say enough. I would love to win this. The Rainbow is a great vacuum except for the ease of use. I am getting older and get tired of it rolling over my toes and having to take out the nasty water. My Mom now has an Oreck and really likes it. She brings the handheld vac when she comes to visit so I can dust my baseboards and shutters. It is so much easier to use. I would LOVE to have a new Oreck Vacuum of my very own. Our Oreck is 13 years old. We love it, but the three houses we have taken it to have done a fair bit of damage on it.
We began our journey with it with four cats and no kids, and we are now catless but have four kids.

One of my 6 year old twins recently tried to beat the crap out of her siblings using the attachment to our new-to-us canister cleaner. It stopped working. I let it “rest” for a week or two and pulled it out today. It’s working – sleep does wonders, even for appliances – but who knows how long it will last?

I want to win because I bought a Dyson two years ago and I HATE it. The hose attachment doesn’t work well (re: at all most of the time) and it’s is always overheating. I have a very heavy upright. Then I have a central vac, that I use on hardwood floors, that is kind of a pain to get the hose out and put back away again. I don’t use it on the carpet b/c it doesn’t seem strong enough. So even though I don’t mind vacuuming, it is kind of a cumbersome chore. I would love to reap the benefits of this new Oreck and its sidekick, that I couldn’t justify spending the money for right now!

i go through vacuum like crazy. I have 7 people living at home and 5 dogs only two are mine the rest belong to my older kids that wont move out. I would love to win a brand-new Oreck. I vacuumed with Orecks at church and at my mom’s house for years before I bought my refurbished used one. A brand new one with all the bells and whistles would be grand!

1. The vacuum I have right now was bought at a garage sale when my Oasis vacuum broke.
2. It makes funny noises that scare my cats and my children.

I have the heaviest oldest vacuum around. While it served it’s purpose (two golden retrievers) I have outlived my love affair with it! The thought of pullling out a lightweight vacuum again… bliss~!! (heck upstairs might even get vacuumed again!!)
Why would I want an Oreck? Because right now I have a 500 lb. Kirby {which while lovely} really has done little to make it easy for me or the kids to vaccuum. The kids can barely maneuver the thing without taking out a piece of furniture…or each other.

As much as it pains me to admit it, I would love an Oreck. My know-it-all-neighbor has been trying to talk me into one of these babies for a long time…but her bossiness and the price tag combined to stall any forward movement. I would absolutely love an Oreck. We have been through several vacuums, supposedly good ones but they never measure up. I’m almost 70 – just bought a retirement home – don’t OWN a vacuum cleaner (wore them all out), and am desperate for one.

Please let me win the Oreck Platinum!!! I have a lousy bagless vacuum that only worked for about one week. Since then, I have taken it apart numerous times to cut my long hair from the roller and replaced the filter. This is waaaay too much drama for a mom of three kids under five. I would LOVE an Oreck!! My vacuums have been limited to the $50 and below sales at Wal-Mart and those vacuums just don’t cut it with a large dog, a cat, (both of whom seem to shed endlessly!!) and 2 boys under 4 years old. Being able to vacuum every day without feeling like I’m being weighed down (literally and figuratively) would be wonderful!
A new vacuum with a hepa filter would be great…I have two dogs and a cat and the one I have now smells like wet dog everytime I use it….The part I hate the most is trying to hold it and vacuum the stairs at the same time… A new one that only weighed 10 lbs would be wonderful….whoever happens to win is going to be one lucky lady……

I would love to win the Oreck!! I have 4 children (well, 5 if you count my husband) and 3 small inside dogs. This contest couldn’t come at a better time, I am without a vacuum at the moment because my husband used it the other day to vacuum where he had been sanding the hardwood floor he was installing and there was a little bit of Polyurethane (used to coat the floor) mixed in with the dust. Nothing happened at the time but later on that night, the vacuum caught on fire. We were very, very lucky that the smoke alarm went off and the house didn’t catch on fire!

My mom & sister are both Oreck owners and they rave about them all the time. I would LOVE to have one, but it’s just not in the budget.
Oh I SO Need one of those! I currently use an electrolux canister, and while I love it – it’s ALOT OF WORK!!! I have 3 small children (5 and under), 1 dog and 2 hermit crabs, and I work 32 hours a week. I clean our entire house by myself each week (trade off for not working QUITE full time) and I would love anything that made this a little easier!!!!! I really do love to clean my house, but finding the time is another story!!!!
I want one because my mom has had hers for 15 years and it still runs great. Meanwhile, I’ve been married 8 years and am on my third vacuum! This last one, we intentionally bought a cheap one so I won’t feel so bad when it breaks down after a year.
Being “present” when I clean is part of my new mantra. Cleaning our home for my family is an act of love on my part and I am fortunate to have a family that appreciates my efforts. I recently left my career to devote more time to our home and family life. I new Oreck would add a new level of love to this now one-income family!
I would love to win a Platinum pilot because I have wall to wall carpet and a 2 year old that drops crumbs ALL THE TIME, and need a GOOD vacuum cleaner.
Ooh, would love to win a new Oreck!! Our current Oreck was a hand me down from my husband’s grandmother and while it does work, it is showing signs of its age!! Since we have a crawling baby and a cat, and it will be at least another year before we can replace the carpet in our house with tile, and since the Oreck also works on other surfaces…I would LOVE to win a new one!! Fingers crossed!!

I’d love a new vacuum
I would like to win because I am obsessed with vacuuming (dog hair = ick) and my 13 year old floor model just doesn’t cut it anymore! (It’s literally duct taped together.) Orecks have top-line reputation in the vacuum world. It just might be the last vacuum I’d ever have to use.
My poor vacuum is on it’s last leg as well. The hose attachment is split and doesn’t suction well either. I would LOVE to win this! Thanks for such a great giveaway

This would be so awesome! My vaccuum just broke… I am actually beating rugs outside like a crazy lady! I am always the person who buys cheap vaccuums, only to have to constantly replace them! This oreck would last SO much longer!~
I am the one who buys the $40 vacuum cleaner at Wal-Mart because I don’t see why I need to spend more than that on a vacuum cleaner. In the past 5 years I have replace it at least once maybe twice and now I am ready for a new one. The biggest reason I don’t spend more for a nice is because I ask myself – is it really worth it? And the fact that I don’t have $500 to $600 to spend on a vacuum cleaner.
I definitely need this… I hate cleaning but with a new baby I must keep the house clean.. especially since she will be crawling soon. My mom bought me the oreck air cleaner? I’ve had it for about 5 years, dropped it a few times & it is still in great working condition! my brother got the small vacuum….

Wow! What an awesome vacuum! Our vacuum broke several months ago and we don’t have the extra money to go buy one yet so we’ve been borrowing my mom’s vacuum once a week to clean up. With 3 little boys running around, it would be so nice to have a new vacuum to use whenever needed. Keeping my fingers crossed:)

I need to win the Oreck because in 3 weeks, I move into this totally oversized house with three levels that has wood floors, tile floors and carpeting. It’s a bit overwhelming to think about how the heck I’m going to clean it. Sadly, the house does not come with a maid . . . not to mention the golden retriever and two little children will not help the situation.

I love my Oreck. It’s 10 years old and I used it for cleaning houses for 5 years. I would love to have the new platinum one. What a neat looking vacuum.
My vacuum sucks. Or, rather, it doesn’t suck…it certainly doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. It makes a terrible smell and basically does nothing but make me feel like I’m making things cleaner even though I’m probably making them worse when I use it. I would L-O-V-E to try out this Oreck!

I’d love to have a new Oreck vacuum cleaner. My current vacuum cleaner is broken meaning I have to use a small hose attachment to clean my rugs. It makes cleaning a little difficult especially when your a stay at home mother taking care of a toddler and newborn at the same time.
We’ve had our current vacuum since we got married. It does the job, but it’s a pain to lug up and down the stairs. A nice lightweight one would be great. Looks like you’ve got quite a few people interested in vacuuming.
I have three dogs and a cat (plus a gaggle of kids)…there are furball tumbleweeds all over my house and my current vacuum is one of those windtunnel suckers that does nothing but get dog hair clogged in the “suck vortex” requiring me to don my mechanic skills and pull it apart almost every time I vacuum.
{{sigh}} I want a REAL vacuum..I want an Oreck.

We have 6 kids and lots of messes! We used to have a Kirby which was effective but weighed 100 pounds, it seemed. Now we switched to a modern “cheap” version and it’s just not good. I keep wanting to try Oreck, but it’s too much money for us to spend right now.
I would love to win such a fancy vacuum cleaner! Currently, I have a cheap-o vacuum that gets the job done but has so little suction power that I have to vacuum the same area two or three times to pick up all the dirt. Needless to say, winning this vacuum would make my life easier!
I would love to win this because we have old style carpet (shag like) and we have one of the cheapest vacuums on the market and I have to vacuum AT LEAST twice a day. And I still know everything isnt getting picked up! Having 4 kids 5 and under…it just makes it really hard and inconvenient to do every day.

Hi! I’m new! I would love to win this Oreck because of the HEPA filtration system. With a husband who is allergic to everything, and a short-haired cat, I feel like I’m vacuuming a lot. Perhaps this will help with my husband’s asthma! And plus, it’s only 10 pounds! Will be a lot easier to lug it up and down the stairs.

I would love a new lightweight vacuum although of all the chores vacuuming is one of my favorites. Dishes are my least favorite followed by scrubbing the tub and shower.

That thing sounds incredible! I had no idea Orecks usually come with a separate handheld vacuum. When I got married, we registered for the cheapest vacuum we thought would do the job, and now that we’re about to have a baby I know I’m going to need something much better.
I have one of the old clunky that I got b/c I just had a small apartment at the time. But not I have about 3500 square feet of space that need cleaning and I dread pulling out the vaccuum. It would be nice to upgrade but I’m trying to save some money for now. An Oreck would be great!

I feel so alone. Vacuuming relaxes me. I used to get yelled at by the people who lived below and beside me in the college residence halls because every time I’d stress about school/grades/tests/boys/school/boys (I meant to type boys twice) I’d run down to the RH office, leave my ID and borrow the vacuum and get after my area rug in my dorm room. Vacuuming is therapuetic.

I would love to win a Oreck Platinum Pilot because I have 2 kids with medical problems. My daughter suffers from allergies and my son has a disorder called CCAM which means he has cysts on his lungs. Unfortunately because of my son’s condition I am unable to work unless I hire someone to come in my home to take care of him. We are constantly having to clean our home to try and keep the allergens and dust out of the air, but with a very limited income I can not afford to go out and buy the equipment that would be more helpful in reducing the allergens in our home. I do have a vacuum but it is one that I paid $100 for at Walmart because that was the peak of my budget. I know that a Oreck would make life so much easier when it comes to cleaning and it would not only go to good use but it would go to a good cause in improving my children’s health as well!

I’m teaching my 6-yr-old to vacuum, but she can barely maneuver our heavy Kenmore upright. A lightweight model would be so encouraging for her to learn that housework CAN be fun.

If, I won this…I will gladly toss out my current Vac. I dont like it at all. We had an Oreck that was given to us when we got out first place and since its untimely death, we have been missing it ever since.
I have always wanted an Oreck, because of the Hepa filitration – my 3 year old has serious allergies and it would make our house a healthier place to be!

I feel like I’m tempting fate by even entering this giveaway. Our last vacuum recently bit the big one… it died in a way I can’t even explain… the metal rod that runs down the middle of the brush which allows both the brush & front wheels to spin, somehow got hot and melted through the plastic on the side of the wheel, thus misadjusting the wheels and not allowing them or the brush to spin anymore. Kind of ridiculous, huh? I’ve been researching vacuums and have heard great things about Oreck. Just don’t have the cash to make it happen. What a wonderful giveaway…
