Last week my good friend Colleen hosted a playdate at her home sponsored by MobiStories.
This wasn’t any ordinary playdate, though; there as a face painter and a “balloon girl” — surely there’s a more technical title for that profession — and lots of goodies from Chick-Fil-A (my one downfall when it comes to fast food. I <3 Chick-Fil-A.)
Here’s a photo of my beautiful little butterfly.

Face Painting, and it's not even Disney World!
But um. What’s a MobiStory? From their site:
The founders of Still Motion Media left their jobs to fill two needs. The first was to spend more time with their young families. The second was to develop a product that could supplement the story time experience that their children only received at bedtime. While nothing should replace a parent hugging a child and reading a book together, MobiStories are there whenever that can’t happen.
Basically MobiStories are digital books. They are available for download to your favorite Apple device as well as your desktop computer.

The graphics are crisp and colorful, and some even have music and interactive elements such as puzzles.

My 4-year-old has been enjoying The Marvelous Toy on my iPod touch, which we were able to download for free at the playdate.

I had to include this picture because JUST LOOK AT THAT LITTLE BUNDLE OF SWEETNESS I’m holding. That’s my friend Megan’s new baby girl.

I’m not big into digital toys and games. Our kids watch very little TV and have limited computer time, but there are times when that iPod touch comes in very handy to occupy my little ones at doctors’ offices and restaurants. For those times, MobiStories are a great diversion. I like that they are reading (or being read to, depending on the age of the child), and the interactive elements keep their interest.
Right now you can sign up for their free book, “Ship” right on their website — look for the sign-up on the right sidebar.
Disclosure: I am not affiliated with MobiStories. All event attendees received a complimentary download of The Marvelous Toy for the device of their choice.

My daughter would love this. Too bad I don’t have any of the requisite apple products.
I think it works on other products as well. But not Droid just yet. They were discussing that at the event. It works on any PC.
Completely unrelated but, did you cut your hair? It looks adorable.
And, I want to munch on that baby! Nom-nom.
Thank you! Yes, I got it cut a couple of weeks ago. Of course, I cut it every 6 to 8 weeks so that’s not really news. But I do like this cut a lot so thanks for noticing.
One more reason I need an iTouch
What an ADORABLE baby!
Isn’t she? I miss those days. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how demanding the baby is) those days don’t last very long.
You look right at home with a baby in your arms.
We are similar to your family in that we watch very little TV, but I have to agree w/ you…ipods and iphones are awesome for waiting rooms, airplane rides, etc.
That little baby is so very precious! What a cutie. Have a great couple of weeks here. We’ll have to celebrate your birthday when we are both home again!
