2010 Recap

It’s that time again! Time to look back over the year and share the first line of the first post of each month.

JANUARY: After I got the kids off to school this morning, I sat down here at ye olde computer with my fresh, steaming hot cuppa coffee, all ready to dive into design work and blog posts.

That’s the one where I resolved not to make New Years resolutions and then went ahead and made one and then pretty much broke it by springtime.  I do have to say, I’ve been BETTER about having personal devotions, but I’m still not as regular as I want to be.

FEBRUARY: When I was a young married woman without kids, my husband and I (okay so maybe it was just I, and he went along with it because he couldn’t resist my charms, heh) decided to get a pet kitten.

Now this is a good one.  This is the kind of post that reminds me why I blog.  Go ahead and read it.  You know you wanna.

MARCH: I propose that we eliminate Monday from the week entirely. Can I get a second?

I’ll stand by THAT!

APRIL: Blogger has added a new feature which was MUCH needed — stand alone pages!

I still get comments on that post from time to time.

And because it’s my blog and I’ll break the rules if I want to, here is the OTHER post from April 1, 2009.

In Which She Relives Her Worst Adolescent Nightmare . . . and Lives To Tell About It.

It will likely come as no surprise to any of you that I was the girl in middle school who didn’t like gym or sports or active games of any kind.

That’s a good read, if I do say so myself!

MAY: It’s Personal – Just Thought You Should Know — Tidy Brown Wren.  If you don’t read any more links from this post, read this one.

The first link in this post is still relevant so I’ve included it here. Please read and consider giving the gift of life with organ donation.

JUNE: Because, you know, four blogs wasn’t enough so I thought I’d start a fifth.

This is where I unveiled my newest online endeavor, Eat Local Philly! So far I’ve gotten great feedback about it, and I’m currently working to make it even better. I’ll let you know when it gets its face lift so you can check it out.

JULY: The good news is, we made it to Maine uneventfully. The bad news is, I left the power cord to my laptop at home. The even worse news is, a replacement power cord is $80, thank you Steve Jobs and your proprietary-ness.

Ahhhh… summer in Maine. I can hardly wait for next year.

AUGUST: I found this recipe from If Mom Says OK, and I’ve already made it several times.

Oh I almost forgot about Peach Pake!  I will miss that next summer, if I’m still gluten free by then.  Or maybe I can figure out a flour substitute for that recipe.

SEPTEMBER: Guess who got rollerblades?

I’ll give you a hint. It wasn’t ME!

OCTOBER: Any gentlemen (all 3 of you) who visit my blog may be excused from reading this post, but don’t go too far. I’ll be back shortly with the harrowing tale of our vacation to Williamsburg.

Alrighty then.

NOVEMBER: I met Lisa Lehman, a.k.a. The Bead Girl, last February at Blissdom. It was impossible not to miss her. She’s tall and gorgeous, and her husband was at her side for most of the conference. (Now that’s one brave man.) We chatted a few times and when I got home, I checked out her site, Studio Jewel. Her jewelry is every bit as striking as she is.

I still wear my Circle Me pendant several times a week. If you’re ever in need of distinctive, wearable jewelry, be sure to check out Lisa’s studio.

DECEMBER: There was an interesting conversation on Twitter yesterday about co-sleeping.

I had to giggle when this one popped up. It’s probably one of my most controversial posts of all time — for whatever reason. I still don’t get it. Really, I’m not necessarily a live and let live kinda gal, but this topic just doesn’t get me heated up like some others do.

Well, that was fun.

  2. I know I did this last year, probably even the year before that. Andy’s snorin’ away so it will have to wait ’till tomorrow.

  3. I totally agree with doing away with Mondays. And I have no EARTHLY idea how in the heck you keep up with 5! blogs and a business. I have enough trouble keeping up with my little itty bitty one.

  4. I love love LOVED meeting you this year Jo-Lynne! Thanks for hosting this crazy carnival that makes my post openers look REALLY bad. :)

  11. Hi … found you via … oops I don’t remember, but some link on the internet somewhere brought me here. And the reason I don’t remember is because I was exploring your site and finding lots of cool information the past few minutes and while I have a good memory, it is short sometimes ;)

It was fun to see the many things we have in common on your site. I’m married to a handyman (and will be showing him your handymans youtube channel) I have 3 kids (all boys, ages 17, 20 and 22) I live about 40 miles west of Philly. I blog, run (recently began running in Vibrams :) and over the past few years (after being severely injured in an accident) have been switching over to more healthy eating … I’m all about whole foods also. I look forward to exploring your site for some great recipes.

Maybe someday we can meet up for a run or some good food :)

  12. Thank you for inspiring me! :)

  17. I spent two hours doing a retrospective this morning. Your way would have been much more fun. (That’s my way of saying, no way in heck am I going back over what I did) ;)
Happy New Year to all your family.

  18. I love your year in review. I do have to say the one from February is my favorite right now because that is the stage I am going through with my oldest girl. It is no longer cool to hold mom’s hand in the stores or snuggle with mom on the couch. *sigh*

Here is to another great year!

  19. What a fun idea! I’ve linked up!

I only found your blog this month but I really enjoy it and I added you to my blogroll so I don’t miss anything new! Happy New Year!

[...] Musings of  a Housewife is hosting a “Blog Recap Carnival”.  I usually never link up to things on other blogs but thought it would be fun (and I did it last year without linking up).  Here’s how it works.  For each month of the year you write the first line of the first blog post for that month.  If you have a blog then you can do it too – and leave me a comment so I can go read (although I probably stalk your blog daily anyways…and some of you need to update).  Don’t have a blog?  Now’s the time to start one!
