30 Day Cut the Clutter Challenge: My Desk

Yesterday I tackled the clutter on my desk.

I honestly don’t know how I work this way:

Pathetic, right? Unfortunately I spend more days than not working in that squalor.

So yesterday I dove in. I went through everything and organized it all and put it where it belongs. I even found  a sizable check that I didn’t know I had – dated 2/12/11. NICE.

I didn’t get as far as I’d hoped. I never made it to that terrifying drawer, but I did get the top of my desk organized and I didn’t throw anything NEW in the drawer. I just didn’t get to go through it yet. Maybe today?

See, much better!

I just love this space when it’s orderly. It really makes me wonder why I don’t set aside 5 minutes each night to clear it off so I can keep it that way.

This weekend I’m hoping to do some major de-cluttering around here. I think I can start going through closets and weeding out some of the winteriest winter clothes. Or maybe I should finish up the kitchen and go through all my cabinets. Or perhaps the book cases in the office/playroom?

Which one would you choose?

Oh how I love the look & feel of an uncluttered workplace. Bravo! I’m certain you’ll find yourself even more productive & ready to tackle that drawer (right after you cash that sizable check!). As for what to tackle next … I’d go back to the kitchen & finish up there. Thanks for sharing your progress. You inspire me. Have a great weekend!

I am doing this now as well. I am going through all the rooms and deep cleaning/getting rid of stuff and making things much more orderly. It’s nice to read other peoples stories as well.

What was your post about again? I was too busy staring at your gorgeeeeoussss Mac.

Hahaha… isn’t she BEE-YOO-TEE-FUL!? She’s getting old, and she’s had her hard drive replaced once, but she’s still going strong!

  4. I just admire that you are doing any!

(I’m using my post-surgery recovery as my current excuse, but will need another one soon!)

  5. Karen says:

I was with you on the whole decluttering thing until you involved my desk. Some things are sacred.

  6. Melinda says:

de-cluttering is such a great feeling, hope your drawer sees the light of day soon

Wow! Very nice! I should probably clean my desk at home a little more often too. I am pretty organized and neat at work, but for some reason nothing gets cleaned at home. Lol.

I love it! It looks soooo good. And, hey, you got the drawer closed right?

  9. Love the cleared off desk! I would probably do a little bit at a time in each of the spaces you mentioned, maybe 5 minutes in each of those areas for a grand total of 15 minutes in the day. Just a thought.

I almost got the zebra momAgenda this year but I got the Ruby Red instead. And thanks for sharing the before picture, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with a messy desk.

  10. I just de-cluttered my desk too. It’s a must since it’s in my bedroom and I have to look at it all the time. I’m feeling inspired to share some pictures on my blog now. I keep my desk clear by only having essential items on it. My laptop, Blackberry, files and writing materials (notebook, mechanical pencils & day planner). It’s easier to keep my space clear this way.
