PlanWood Toys from PlanToys®

plan toys review

I don’t write a lot about toys — mainly because my kids have arrived at the age where the only toys they really care about require a charging station.

However, when I had the opportunity to review these PlanToys, I agreed because I absolutely love the concept. (And I have a neice and nephew to pass them down to!) If you aren’t familiar already, PlanToys are a line of innovative educational toys made from non-toxic natural materials such as organic rubberwood.

The toys they sent to me are actually from a new line called PlanWood toys, which are made from the rubberwood sawdust created by the manufacturing of other items by Plan Toys.

PlanToys has traditionally manufactured their toys from renewable rubberwood that is no longer producing rubber. The new PlanWood is made from the 2 tons of sawdust that the toy factory produces daily, truly using every part of the rubberwood tree. With some pressure molding they were able to create a high density fiber, which is strong and durable.

This is about as eco-friendly as it gets!

I also love that the new PlanWood toys can safely go in the dishwasher. One of the biggest reasons I was skeptical of wood toys when I had babies was that they weren’t easily disinfectable, and we all know how babies and toddlers love to put toys in their mouths.

PlayToys sent us the Stacking Bear and Pull-Along Snail. Both are so incredibly clever, even my 6 and 9-year old kids enjoyed playing with them. The Stacking Bear is particularly innovative. It’s not a typical stacking toy with a tube up through the middle. Rather, you build the  bear by stacking and matching the blocks with the corresponding shapes.

We put together this quick video to show you!

PlayToys can be purchased at select online and traditional retailers.

  1. I just wanted to let you know that I shared your Best Ever Banana Bread recipe. http://shoprubyjean.com/2012/08/best-ever-gluten-free-banana-bread/

  2. So, for whatever reason I’ve never watched one of your Vlogs before. I realized as soon as I hit play on this one that I’d never heard your voice before! It was like a reverse of when you see a radio personality whose voice you know but only had the made up face in your head to go along with it. Is it strange to say that you have a very friendly voice? I mean it as a compliment! :)

That stacking bear looks neat. FYI – I just tried to find retailers via the plan toys website and it was a no go. I found them on Amazon. Thanks for the review. I’m not a big fan of vlogs, but this one is perfect. I never would have understood the way the bear stacks without it. Thanks
