A few weeks ago I was all hush-hush about a trip to NYC with Target. Now I can finally spill the beans. Are there any Project Runway fans in the house? Does anyone remember Chris March??
Well, he’s been moving up in the world of fashion design because this Halloween, Target teamed up with Chris to create an exclusive line of “larger-than-life” Halloween wigs.
When they say “larger than life”? They ain’t kiddin’ around.
The limited-time collection, which will arrive in stores and on Target.com on Sept. 15, features over-the-top foam wigs, each priced at $20 or less, that will help Target guests create the perfect Halloween look.
“The wigs are inspired by fun and iconic characters and will help everyone create unforgettable Halloween costumes,” said Chris.
And guess what else? I was invited to be styled by Chris March in one of his wigs and a costume from Target for Halloween.
You may not know this about me, but I used to have a heyday dressing up for Halloween. We used to host Halloween parties every year and costumes were not only required — we voted and awarded prizes for the best one. One year we dressed my husband up as Richard Simmons. THAT was a hoot.
Then I got old and lame and Halloween became all about the kids.
But Chris March and his Big Fun Wig Collection brought it all back!
Not only did I get to try on one of his wigs and get styled in a fabulous costume, they flew in a professional makeup artist to do my face so it was worthy of Chris’s amazing wig. Of the whole experience, that was the most fun — watching my face transform. Take a look.
I know. RIGHT??? The eyelashes are insane!
But wait. It gets better.
Then Chris styled me in a really cute 70′s themed outfit. I’m not one for gory Halloween costumes, so the folks at Target worked with me to come up with something that I felt good about. I loved the white Gogo Boots!!
(Sheesh, could my posture be any worse? Ugh. Anyway.)
Then it was time for . . .
Are you ready for this?
I think you can tell by the look on my face that I was a little bit gobsmacked. It’s absolutely AMAZING what Chris created with these wigs. It was actually incredibly lightweight, but it definitely felt awkward. I kept thinking it was going to fall off, although it never did. I think if I could have seen myself right away, I would have felt more comfortable in it, but instead, we got right into our photo shoot. It wasn’t until I got back to the dressing room to take myself apart that I saw how truly amazing he made me look.
Check out the video.
If nothing else, this provides the perfect opportunity to embarrass my kids. My 13-year-old son is mortified. And when my 7-year-old daughter saw it this morning, she just shook her head and said dryly, “Mom, you are too much!” LOL!!
But my 10-year-old’s reaction? “Can you buy me that wig for Halloween? And the eyelashes too???” Perhaps . . .
Thank you, Chris March, for creating this awesome collection of Halloween wigs and for making me into a fabulous 1970′s dance queen — if only for a day!
