Hi! My name is Jo-Lynne. I am a talker, a writer, and a collector of people. Musings of a Housewife is a personal memoir and lifestyle blog where I write about faith, family, food and fashion and anything else that strikes my fancy. I absolutely adore the smart, encouraging community of women who gather here to read about my most recent antics or my newest obsession. Blogging would be meaningless without them.
I am a born again believer in Jesus, and I claim his grace alone for my salvation and sanctification. I have three school-age children who provide me with unconditional love and oodles of blog fodder, although as they get older and learn to read over my shoulder, I have to be more careful about what I put into print. I am happily married to one very patient computer geek/handyman, and we make our home in a rural suburb of Philadelphia.
This is our family:
My idea of the perfect day is an early morning run, then a few hours of aimless wandering through the mall sipping on a mocha latte (whole milk, no whip please), with a relaxing pedicure before I head home to hug my littles and make a homemade dinner for the fam. I get one of those days approximately once a year, but one can always hope!
I am passionate about eating real food, and I am currently living gluten free. We buy fresh and local as much as possible living in the tundra of Pennsylvania, although I’m not giving up bananas any time soon. We like our milk raw and our meat and eggs from local farms that raise their animals on pasture. We eat real butter and as much organic produce as we can afford, although it’s so much more than eating organic. My recipes and meal plans are among my most popular posts.
I recently took up running, and I adore my Vibram Five Fingers. I love to hit the pavement first thing in the morning with my iPod turned up and the wind at my back.

I am a bit obsessed with shopping, and I’m always interested in seeing the latest trends. I am founder and a co-host of the popular Fashion Friday blog carnival, where I share my latest finds and the newest trends and how to make them work for the 30- and 40-something mom.

In addition to this mom blog, I also own Eat Local Philly, a resource for locally sourced foods; and I am co-founder and moderator of the vibrant networking group, Philly Social Media Moms. I recently launched the PSMM Workshops for the education and growth of our local mom blogging community.
Blogging has opened up many exciting doors of opportunity. One of my greatest honors was being named one of the 50 most powerful and influential women in social media by Nielsen Online in 2009. I’ve made appearances for Hebrew National, Huggies, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales and traveled to the corporate headquarters of TJMaxx, iRobot, Chick-Fil-A and even Disney World. I currently serve as brand ambassador for Therapon Skin Health, and I recently joined BlogFrog as a Community Leader of their Gluten Free Living Community.
I occasionally write for major companies such as this series of articles for Udi’s Gluten Free Foods and this post for Boston Market.
When I’m not online, which is an increasingly rare occurrence, I like to cook, read, shop, jog, and photograph my kids. And I’ll never turn down a pedicure.
