Hallmark Strikes Again!
Mother's Day is rapidly approaching. Do you have any exciting plans? I'm always conflicted about the "Hallmark holidays" like Valentine's and Mother's and Father's Days.
On the one hand, I hate to support another manufactured event designed with the sole purpose of promoting American consumerism. Jaded much? On the other hand, you won't see me turning down flowers or chocolates any time soon.
If you could have ANYTHING you wanted for Mother's Day, what would it be? Flowers? Chocolates? Jewelry? A day at the spa? Even just an hour at the spa? Homemade cards from the kids? Handpicked weeds flowers from the yard presented in grubby baby hands? Breakfast in bed? A lunch out at your favorite restaurant?
Or do you ignore the day altogether and scoff at all the idiots who are slaves to the contrived holiday?
For me, the only thing I really want for Mother's Day is A DAY OFF. I just want a day with no dishes, no laundry, no dishes, no childcare responsibilities, NO DISHES... Okay, I think I'd settle for just a day with no dishes. Oh yeah, and a nap!
Really, is that asking so much? It must be because every year I ask for this, and it hasn't happened yet. But I'm still holding out hope. Maybe this year...

I made my first official post about this! I want cold, hard, cash and the time to shop sans four kids!
But a day off sounds nice too!!!!!!

I'd love maid service for a spring cleaning. Yup, that's what I'd like.

I am asking for a pedicure and to be able to go alone. Most of the time the Princess goes with me and gets her nails painted. This time, I want to go all by myself.

I always feel kind of conficted about spending day with my Mom and spending day with my family. This year we are kind of doing both. I've given Dh the choice of a few things I would like. I couldn't think of anything major. Last year he went over the top and bought a big wooden swing for the porch. I told him that got him off the hook for at least 3 years.

I'd like Al to carry this baby for the day. Other than that, I'd like to sleep a little bit late, have coffee in bed, and get my hair done. There's no THING I really want right now.

I want a lie in, a cup of tea, no meals to cook, but not to go out for a meal - I hat packed reataurants with Mothers Day special offers. I prefer to go out a different time.
And of course some hand made presents by my kids. Last time my daughter wrote a poem for me - the first line being "My Mum is like a lovely bowl of Irish Stew....." - precious!
Although I will have to wait a while - Mothers day is in March here!

Just a day to spend with my baby and not worry about the laundry, dishes and cleaning!

Hmm - I'd take a day without dishes, and an opportunity to Start and Finish a book!

I'd take a day with my family with my husband taking care of the kids. I'm tired of being the one who makes sure everything gets done. And while I'm dreaming, I'll also take a manicure, new summer purse, and some shorts that look good on me.

A day off is always my favorite present! My hubby occasionally takes the Little Guy to visit his parents in Virginia for the weekend, so I get to go to sleep and wake up whenever I want two days in a row. It is wonderful, but it has been over a year since the last trip, so I think I need to put a bug in his ear about it. :)

A day off? What's that?!
I don't know...Mother's Day is a pain b/c we have to honor our own moms (that's MINE and my DH's...). So, when do I get honored?! Not selfish at all, apparently.

a day off would be heaven. but i would settle for 18 hours of uninterrupted sleep ;-)
we don't really do mothers' day. mainly because husband grew up far away in india where there is no hallmark, therefore no hallmark holidays. i usually get flowers or take-out for dinner.

I would love a day off, also! Really, a day with no cooking and kitchen clean up duty. Good luck, ladies, and Happy Mothers Day to us all:)

Tradition around here is that I get to choose whatever I want for dinner, cook it myself (if I want to, which I usually do because I love to cook) and someone ELSE gets to clean up all the mess I make in the kitchen! Works for me!
I also don't like to go out to eat on Mother's Day. It's too crowded, and I figure that the people working in the restaurants aren't spending the time with THEIR mothers (or their families, if they are mothers).

I would love an iPhone and a new Coach purse. I won't be getting either of those things. I will most happily "settle" for hugs, kisses, and snuggle time with my little man.

I would love for my hubby to grill steaks and make baked potatoes for dinner!

I don't make a big deal out of it. Husband usually remembers that morning and runs out to get flowers, maybe. Really, I do think it is pretty much a made-up holiday, and so I don't have big expectations. Getting to choose the restaurant for dinner after church is my main celebration. This year, of course, I'll be contacting you for my blog design mother's day gift. :)
