5 Secrets To Perk Up Your Peepers #BeautyBuzz

While I’m in Maine, my friend Corine agreed to step in for me and take on #BeautyBuzz this week. Corine is the beauty and the brains behind the lifestyle blog, Complicated Mama. She’s also a mom of three littles and a confessed shopaholic, so you can see why we can relate! She’s going to share her best tips on how to perk up tired eyes so I’ll hand it over to her!

5 Tips to Perk Up Tired Eyes

Battling tired eyes is something all women can all relate to on some level. We’ve all been there. Staring in the mirror at our exhausted reflection, fumbling through our make-up, trying desperately to cover up those designer bags under our eyes.

As a Mom of 3 (one being an 8 month old who has yet to sleep through the night), trying out a variety of different ways to mask those sleepless nights has become a personal mission of mine. So when Jo-Lynne invited me to contribute to this week’s #BeautyBuzz, I thought I would share some of my tried and true tips, tricks and product faves to help give your eyes a rejuvenated look.

5 secrets to perk up tired eyes

1. Deflate Puffiness

The metal teaspoon freezer trick is one has been around for years and I am here to say– it works!

Here’s how:

Leave 2 teaspoons in the freezer for those days you wake up with puffy eyes.

To instantly reduce the puff, take those freezing cold teaspoons and use the back of the spoons to massage puffy areas.

–Viola!

Small- Kiehls eye depuffer

Another solution? Kiehl’s makes an eye de-puffer that I swear by called Facial Fuel. It is technically from their men’s line, and I may or may not have discovered it in my husband’s travel bag. But since finding this gem, it has officially become mine because I use it all.the.time. It is cool to the skin, instantly makes your eyes feel awake, and is small enough to keep in your bag for wakening those eyes up mid-day (long cross-country flights anyone?)

2. Conceal Dark Circles

When choosing a concealer, you want to pick a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. I’ve tried many different concealers before finally finding and falling in love with …

Classic Cobb Salad Recipe #RealFoodRecipes

cobb-salad

One of my favorite salads to order out is a Cobb Salad. It has all my Favorite Things… bacon, blue cheese, hard boiled eggs, grilled chicken and of course my nemesis, the avocado. (While I love it, it wrecks havoc on my delicate digestive system, as I once again confirmed the day I ate this…

How to Wear a Black & White Striped Skirt

how to wear black and white skirt

One of the fun things about Google Analytics is seeing how people find my blog. I get discovered by all sorts of crazy (and totally irrelevant) words and phrases, but this one (how to wear a black and white striped skirt) sounded like a great post topic idea, so here we are! How to Wear…

Coffee Talk #OldSchoolBlogging

piano recital

I feel like we’re finally settling into summer around here. You know what’s funny, though? Last night I dreamed we had snow. I think this winter scarred me for life. My parents are in town for my daughter’s first piano recital, which was last night. She was so nervous, but she did great. She played…

English Peas #CSA #OldSchoolBlogging

I have fond memories of summer vacations at my Gramma’s house in Maine. We would visit every summer for at least a week and stay with my grandparents in their small Dutch Colonial on a tree-lined street in suburban Bangor. Sometimes we would go sight-seeing to the Coast but many days we spent hanging out with…

Fashion for the Fourth #FashionFriday

Red, White & Blue

I think I write this post every year, but it’s always a fun one! I love getting festive for the Fourth, even though we rarely have exciting plans. Remember, patriotic does not mean you have to drape yourself in the American flag. (In fact, I would highly discourage that.) Here are some more fashion-forward looks…

ISO Cute & Modest Swimwear for Tween Girls

Screen Shot 2014-06-26 at 9.28.22 AM

Lately I’ve seen a lot moms of tween girls lamenting the limited choices for modest, age-appropriate swimwear. When my girls were younger, I could grab any old swimsuit at Target and it would be fine. But now that they’re getting older, I’m finding those thin, flimsy swimsuits aren’t up to the task of keeping our girls modest and…

Designing A Functional Rec Room

Rec Room Makeover with Raymour & Flanigan

When Raymour & Flanigan reached out to me and offered to help us make over a room in our home, we had a big decision to make. (HINT: This was not a “yes” or “no” decision. We were ecstatic to participate.) The question was, WHICH ROOM? Several rooms in our home could use updating, but we finally…

Welcome to the first full week of Daily Mom Style, the summer vaca edition! Admittedly my wardrobe hasn’t changed much. Taking the Time To Reconnect “In Real Life”

hallmark2

I don’t know about you, but I’m not great at keeping up with friends and I don’t think Facebook helps one bit. It gives this false sense of connectedness, where you see what people are doing and you know what’s going on in their lives so you feel no need to pick up the…
