Welcome to the Real Food Recipe Roundup, a collaboration between Musings of a Housewife and Sassy Moms in the City!

We’re now emphasizing all healthy recipes using primarily real, whole foods so whether you’re gluten-free, paleo, raw, vegan, flexitarian or just trying to provide healthy options for your family, there will be something for everyone!

We’ve had some technical difficulties we’ve been working out the last few weeks but this week you can finally link up your real food recipes and meal plans over at Sassy Moms in the City.

This week, my featured recipe from last week’s roundup is Kira’s Decadent Sweet Potato Mashed with Beef Strips, a nutritious dish from East Africa made popular by Kenyans. Doesn’t that look delish?

Also, be sure to check out Trina’s real food money saving tips. Cooking from scratch and eating real food definitely takes a time commitment, but it doesn’t have to be expensive. She also put together this great graphic with the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15. You may want to print this out and tuck it in your purse to have on hand when you’re shopping.

MONDAY: Kielbasa & Pepper Pasta with salad

TUESDAY: Chicken Caesar Salad with Grilled Romaine

WEDNESDAY: Decadent Sweet Potato Mashed with Beef Strips

THURSDAY: Pesto and Goat Cheese Pizza

FRIDAY: Asian Inspired Flat Iron Steak (hat tip to Sugar Free Glow) with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans

We usually do take out or eat out on Saturday, and Sunday is often a free-for-all — either leftovers or sandwiches or, if we’re lucky, dining out!

    First….THANK YOU for featuring my real food money saving ideas this week, I really appreciate it. LOVING your new real food features – I am trying something new on Friday, your Pesto Goat Cheese Pizza. We love goat cheese on pizza, so yummy!!!

    Tonight we had chicken & apple sausage, sweet potatoes, and chèvre. We have tows of leftovers to eat for the next couple of nights, then I will make baked chicken one night and black beans and rice after that. Easy stuff!

    Oh, I hope you like it! Btw, I made your pulled pork crockpot recipe this weekend instead of the one I was going to make because I was in a time crunch. LOVED it and so, so easy! I will for sure be making it again! I haven’t put my menu together yet but have some paleo treats to share!
