Strawberry Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Two of my three kids love smoothies, but each has a favorite. My son’s go-to smoothie is this Chocolate Banana Smoothie I posted eons ago. Even though it sounds like dessert, I have no problem letting him have it for breakfast, as the primary ingredients are yogurt, banana and a raw egg for protein.

My daughter, on the other hand, is all about the fruit. This Strawberry Blueberry Banana Smoothie was her own concoction.

Strawberry Blueberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

We always keep frozen bananas in the fridge for smoothie purposes. Now, if you want to go all healthy green smoothie on me, I have one of those for you too. But this is more like dessert for breakfast. Who says I’m never a cool mom???

For the strawberry blueberry banana version, we started with our typical frozen banana and cup of yogurt. And to that we added a cup of fresh organic strawberries and a half cup of blueberries. We also added some milk to make it the right consistency because it was pretty thick otherwise. You could certainly use coconut milk for the nutrition. Finish off with ice and we’re good to go! If you use frozen strawberries and blueberries and banana, you may not need to add ice.

This is my usual smoothie. We also have bananas, strawberries, and blueberries (we picked last summer) in the freezer, and I add almond milk and yogurt. Yesterday I added a couple of kale leaves which you couldn’t taste. I love it!

Well…. first, I don’t feel like there is as much risk with eggs as with raw milk. And I teach my kids to wash them and they’re fresh from local farms. But of course there is some risk. Aaaaaand actually, I have been known to buy a gallon of raw milk every now and again since we got sick. There are recalls and food poisonings happening all the time with factory foods. I guess I’d rather risk it with healthy stuff. LOL.

Our current favorite: spinach, frozen tropical fruit blend, banana, and apple. Add water and blend. Just got a NutriBullet Pro and we’re in love! :)
