I’m taking a cue from Amy at Mom Advice — a dear friend and co-presenter at the Type A Advanced Conference in Philly this weekend. If you’re visiting my site for the first time from the Type A Conference, I want to take a sec and say hello and share a little bit about myself!
I pitched the idea of a session on Using Pinterest to Drive Traffic to your Blog because I have seen such incredible growth in my traffic since the advent of Pinterest, and sure enough, Amy and I will be sharing our best tips to utilize Pinterest to grow your business tomorrow (Saturday, April 20th) at 3:00!! (Here is the full Type A Advanced Philly Agenda, in case you need it.) Make sure to grab a cup of coffee first — it’s that hour when we’re all going to be ready for a nap! But trust me, you do NOT want to nap through this. I hope to see you there!
A little bit about me . . .
I’m a 40-year-old wife and mom of three lively children (ages 7, 10 and 13) and a terribly spoiled shih ztu named Savannah. My husband is a Philly boy, born and bred, and since I moved here from Virginia 17 years ago, I guess it’s time to start claiming it as my own as well.
We live in the burbs, where I write this blog as well as run a networking organization for Philly mom bloggers called the Philly Social Media Moms. I’m also a marketer for a small food company called Rose Romano’s Italian Peppers. Yes, I like to stay busy!
I’ve been blogging for seven years, and I have seen the space evolve dramatically over that time. At first it was a hobby, then it was a source of community and support, and now it’s a full fledged career that I could have never predicted for myself, but I absolutely love it.
I love to talk about fashion and follow the trends, but I don’t consider myself a fashionista. I love to cook and share the recipes I discover, but I’m no chef. I’ve recently developed a passion for fitness running, but I’m hardly an athlete. We love to travel as a family, but we don’t get to do so nearly as often as I’d like. I also love blogging and social media and enjoy sharing what I know. I write about all of those things on this blog, thus my tagline: dishing up an assortment of fashion, food, fitness and family travel since 2006!
I hope you will follow me on Pinterest where I love to curate the best articles I find on the web. My focus is on food and fashion, and I also pin inspirational quotes, fitness, beauty and even craft projects — although I know I’ll never do them! My hope is that my Pinterest page reflects my interests while also serving as a great resource for moms everywhere.
I wrote a series of three posts on using Pinterest in the past few months, preparing for my session tomorrow. You can find them all here:
I also wrote these two posts a while back for bloggers in particular, and most of the information contained is still relevant.
Amy wrote this post on the subject: How to Be a Pinterest Superstar. And she IS a Pinterest superstar. Girlfriend has a gazillion followers!! She’s amazing.
Amy also has a bunch more helpful links to plugins and posts to help you make the most of Pinterest on her welcome post. You’ll definitely want to check them out at your liesure.
I look forward to meeting you! I echo Amy’s sentiment here. If you see me, please come say hi and introduce yourself! I love meeting new people and I’m really excited to spend this weekend with all of you!
